This download is a custom career. This means that you will need the NRaas Careers mod installed in order to use the download in your game.
I've been wanting a more specific political career for quite a while, so I'm here with the Local Council Career! This does not override the Political Career, or any other career.

For this career to show up, you will need the Nraas Careers Mod .
This career was made with Patch 1.69 and is in English and supports Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese and French translations. If you're interested in translating this career, there are instructions at the bottom of the page.

The career is based at the City Hall. The career splits into two branches; Administrative and Politician.
There are no uniforms for this career. You can edit career outfits with Patch 1.31 and above, so I highly suggest using this feature to give your Sims a uniform of your own choosing.
There are 8 Opportunities available.
Your Sim may receive a bonus on Snowflake Day if Seasons is installed.
There is no boss for level 10 of the career.
There are six custom tones:
Discuss Policies, which builds the Charisma skill
Write Letters, which builds the Writing skill (only at Level 3)
Write Speeches, which builds the Writing skill (Only at Level 4, Administrative Branch)
Plan Campaign Trail, which builds the Social Networking skill (Only at Levels 6 and 7, Administrative Branch)
Answer Phone, which builds the Charisma skill (Only at Levels 4-8, Politician Branch)
Outline Policy, which builds the Logic skill (Only at Levels 4-8, Politician Branch)

You will need University Life for this career to work as intended.

Join Text ~ The local Council is always looking for new volunteers who might have what it takes to join the council and serve the public's best interests. Why not try your hand at volunteering and see if you can make it onto the council ladder?

The Levels

1. Volunteer - The council's decided to pioneer a scheme for anyone to volunteer at the offices. Those who excel will be offered full time positions and will be able to work their way up the political ladder of local council. A bit of hard work is required here to succeed but it'll be worth it. Keep a smile on your face and do as you're told if you want to secure a solid salary.
9.00am - 5.00pm

2. Receptionist - Having proved your worth as a volunteer, the council offered you a vacant position as the receptionist. This is actually a lot more important than it sounds. If Sims have booked appointments, it's entirely up to you to ensure the appropriate official is actually notified. Keep that smile firmly fixed in place because you're face is the first the public will see when they step into the building.
9.00am - 5.00pm

3. Secretary - A fancy name for a typist. Every letter being sent out to members of the public will be typed by either you or the dozens of other secretaries the council employs. The job couldn't be any simpler really, as there are dozens of templates to choose from. So try and keep it polite yet short and sweet. You'll be expected to keep your writing skills up to scratch though, in case more personal touches are required.
9.00am - 5.00pm

Administrative Branch

4. Speechwriter - {TownName}'s local representative often has to make appearances around town. If it's opening a new school, creating a new park or meeting the populace at election time, they're going to need an appropriate speech to make to impress the locals and make the right impression. You're now that valuable speechwriter. This is actually a lot harder than it sounds and at times you'll probably tear your hair out wondering if you've hit the right note. Keep at it because the more you practice, the better you get!
8.00am - 5.00pm

5. Fundraiser - With a variety of projects being undertaken across the town, it's fairly vital the council receives the appropriate funding. A lot of it comes from the central government but it's not always enough and it becomes your job to organise the funding for them. Hosting fundraising parties would be an excellent way to raise a significant amount of money, so start rubbing shoulders with the wealthy citizens of {TownName}!
8.00am - 5.00pm

6. Assistant Campaign Manager - There doesn't necessarily have to be an election this year to require a campaign manager and if you have the manager, you'll need the assistant. Whoever you're representing will need a solid campaign when the time comes, and it doesn't hurt to lay out the groundwork early, now does it? So start phoning around for sponsors and staff members for the campaign and get the campaign trail ready.
9.00am - 5.00pm

7. Campaign Manager - With an election fast approaching, the heat is on the get the campaign just right to have the votes in the bag. From organizing the campaign trail to press opportunities, from speeches to personal appearances, there's a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it. Make full use of your assistants because you're going to need them! It's a rewarding job and the top end of the administration branch of local council work. You're one of the vital cogs that keeps the business of politics turning smoothly, so pat yourself on the back. Congratulations!
9.00am - 5.00pm

Politician Branch

4. Housing Officer - Your first day in the Housing department and your secretary hands you a list of Sims requesting housing in {TownName}. Suddenly this job doesn't seem as easy as you might have first thought. Assessing housing conditions and housing homeless Sims isn't a simple job but it can be very rewarding when your hard work and persuasion pays off.
9.00am - 5.00pm

5. Finance Officer - Balance sheets and department budgets are touchy subjects with any council worker but unfortunately, they're entirely your responsibility. The funding and financing is vital for the work of the council but it is also in rather short supply. Assigning budgets will be full of tough decisions and undoubtedly there will be some projects that will lack the financing they need but if you prioritise everything just right, the money will crop up. It always does.
9.00am - 5.00pm

6. Welfare Officer - The health and wellbeing of the residents of {TownName} is no joking matter. From poorly children to isolated elderly, there's not a single citizen whose welfare you don't look out for. Ensuring the appropriate health care is available takes up the vast majority of your time but perhaps ensuring the more isolated citizens can enjoy their surroundings should take a spot near the top of your priority list?
9.00am - 5.00pm

7. Environment Officer - Protesters beware, there's a new Environment Officer! Everything from local parks and greens to the suitability of new building sites, almost everything to do with the environment in and around {TownName} is your domain. It's essential to maintain the greenery if you don't want to eco-friendly protesters on your back and rallying around the office!
9.00am - 5.00pm

8. Local Education Officer - As the LEO, the condition of the local schools and the curriculum being taught in them is your responsibility, and it's not one to be taken lightly. The council wants every child and teenager in {TownName} to receive the best possible education in a top quality school so it might be an idea to pop down to the local schools and assess them, to pick up on what's needed to be done. Good luck!
9.00am - 5.00pm

9. Local Councillor - Having been elected as a councillor for {TownName}, you've been given the chance to really put your views across to the council as a whole. Is there a particular aspect of the running of things you're not happy with? An area in town you think needs closer attention? If so, make your voice heard! You're a representation of the people now and it's time to let their voices be heard through you.
9.00am - 5.00pm

10. Town Mayor - Having served faithfully and loyally on the council for a number of years, you have been elected Town Mayor! Congratulations! Attending important events and ceremonies in {TownName} are important roles within your job so keep up to date and remember; keep a smile on your face. The people look up to you and you deserve it!
10.00am - 5.00pm
