Make sure "Script Mods Allowed" checkbox is enabled in game options.

Hello
I don't know if I missed something, I put the "py" files in my mods but I have nothing in my game. Scripts are enabled in the settings.

Is the whole zipped file to be put in mods? or the free-ref folder or the scripts folder?

Heya @dagger !

The game seems to depend on .zip files when it comes to reading scripts. I think it was only in the early days that adding .py files would work, whereas now the game primarily reads 'ts4script' files. The devs also seemingly did this, so that people wouldn't mistakingly unzip the script stuff itself and it no longer working because of that. So that's why they basically made zip files that had their extension changed to 'ts4script' so people can't unzip it by accident.

Now, it's pretty easy to create a ts4script (without any additional software really) by creating a zip file, and then change the .zip to ts4script: https://modthesims.info/t/577857

Alternatively, you can always dump your python files in the folders as explained here: https://sims4studio.com/thread/1514...ython-scripting
And just compress that and voila!

Blender and other python-dependant-softwares use this same exact method; the game sees the zip, also checks what's inside and 'hooks' the module to the rest of the python code to be included. Might be worth checking out! Also might be easier for your downloaders to install as well this way

This mod don´t work, bcos it is a .py file and not a ts4script file as it should be. Please make a real ts4script file

This will be great for my OTG sim, and completing the R2R challenge. Thank you for making this a Base Game mod!

unzip the zip file and paste it in the mods file,
the path should be like this:

Mods\free_ref_paint\Scripts

REMEMBER do not include the file with name MTS_(the mod)!!!
the game won't read the mod if you paste the whole unzipped file directly in the folder!!

I just renamed the ".ZIP " to ".TS4SCRIPT". Be sure to do that before you actually place the file in the mods folder, otherwise, it will not work.

This mod is throwing up LEs for me. I have it installed just the way you say Mods, free_ref_paint, Scripts. I have tried it both ways with the scripts zipped and with the scrip file un-zipped.

Many THANKS for this mod!
Suggestion: is it possible to make a mod in which the finished photo will be used as a reference? However, what if there is more than one photo in the inventory, hmm... It is possible to use something like the window used when buying something. Yes, there will be a very small picture, but if the photos are of different places, and not of the same object, then you will notice the difference... It's just a suggestion, maybe it's too complicated... It's just that I'm one of those who constantly accumulates a lot of photos and would like to use not only "drawn" paintings (although I have both a replacement for default paintings for drawing, and several standalone sets of paintings from the Sims4Studio website), but also photos for a change. In any case, your mod already improves this functionality... For which once again - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

OMG! I have been wanting this. So tired of bad "Paint from reference" options. Unfortunately, I cannot change the zip to TS4SCRIPT. Could you please just create it as a script instead of python so people don't have to do extra steps to get this to work. Right now it won't work for me which is sad.
