excellent! my daughter just got this exact problem today, unfortunately she bulldozed her house before i saw this, but she says it happens with her particular sim in any lot so it will come in handy anyway
i've not had it yet but it would only have been a matter of time

Thanks for this. Twojeffs at varioussimmers has created something that seems similar called "Students Move Away From the Portal.package." Do you know if this two hack address the same issues?

Portals are added by Uni I believe. I don't have Uni installed yet but I do have NL and I have never run into this problem (though this will be a fix I want when I do install Uni) so thanks a lot.

Portals have nothing to do with uni. Portals are used to move from one room to another, so exist on doors, stairs and on the edges of lots to bring sims in and out.

In NL there are also portals for the new connectable sofas, which are causing problems.

Fixes a problem with the new NL sectional sofas, whereby the sims would attempt to use the sofa as a doorway.
Symptoms: a sim will sit, stand-up, walk away, turn around, sit, etc... indefinitely, on the sectional sofas.

man...thats why my sim goes to sit on the couch before going on to do something else. although i have never seen the other problem of sims gathering, but id rather keep it that way...so i guess i'll be using only 3 mods in my game....ok, 3!!! thats it....no more!!!
