Those of you who were waiting for Bob - sorry the wait's going to be a little bit longer as the upload needs some things changed and I won't have time to resubmit for a while as I have a few exams coming up.
Namely 3 written papers and a practical where I get to shine bright lights in peoples' eyes to look at their retinas, stare inside their ears and to poke and prod their faces with cotton wool, reflex hammers and maybe even pins.
Paysites:
Other than that while I regularly visit community forums to lurk and post I'm aware some people don't and so might not know about the latest goings on in the paysites saga and of course some people may not have heard about it at all.
A couple of threads about the whole debate can be found at the SC2
This is the first thread covering the subject - be warned you may need to have a couple of days free to go through the whole thing - it's continued in
this thread which is still short and contains the general gist of feeling.
The reason I'm pointing this out is mostly because I feel strongly about the issue - the EULA itself states “You may include materials created with the Tools & Materials on your personal
noncommercial website for the
noncommercial benefit of the fan community for EA's products” which to me clearly says paysites are illegal. While in the community recent contacts with EA's legal team - have a look at the end of the large paysites thread for the quoted letters - has prompted both a
petition set up by Nouk and a
letter writing campaign. I've signed and sent a letter myself and I suppose what I'm mostly saying here is that I'd encourage anyone else who feels strongly about the paysites issue to do the same. Apathy won't get us anywhere, but if enough people say something then EA may actually care to make a definitive statement and start taking action against the paysites.
If nothing else read about it, make up your own mind about it and pass on the links to your sims playing friends.
Steps off soapbox.
Revision Ho!
