Default Things I've Seen/Heard/Read About in The Sims 3: Island Paradise

Welcome to Isla Paradiso!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let your Sims escape to their own island paradise, complete with sparkling waters and sun-drenched beaches in The Sims™ 3 Island Paradise. They can explore by boat, go scuba diving, live in a houseboat or even build and run their own resorts. Nautical Sims can discover new islands, uncover sunken treasure, or even befriend a mermaid! With innovative features never before seen in The Sims™ PC franchise and a world of new possibilities on land and in sea, your Sims will have an unforgettable adventure in their own island paradise.

Game Features:
• Set sail for adventure: Your Sims can now take off across the waves to discover new islands and explore like never before, whether by paddleboat, speedboat, or fully customizable houseboat! What will you discover?

• Build the best resort in the islands: Specialize in waterslides and buffet tables to attract families, build pool bars where single Sims can meet and flirt, or create a romantic retreat dotted with bungalows. How you choose your amenities and set your prices will affect your reviews and profits. Get a high enough star rating, and you’ll soon be rolling in Simoleons!

• Dive into the blue: See what surprises await beneath the sea! As your Sims build their snorkeling and scuba diving skills, they may find themselves on the shore of a new island or discover a long-lost treasure.

• Boat sweet boat: Whether your Sims love the water or just love exploring, there is a range of fully customizable houseboats that can be moored at any open port. If your Sims tire of the view, they can just cruise on to a new locale!

• Build over the water: New stilted foundations give your Sims the best of both worlds—a home that’s partially on the water and partially on land. Build a resort, create travelling houseboats, and customize your very own island paradise for your Sims!

I love the island paradise, but does this means we won't get a snowy vacation location? I mean there's icy islands paradise for penguins too.

I'm pretty happy about it. It seems like it's going to add a ton more then World Adventures did. Boats!! Running a hotel!

I think I'm more excited for it then University, actually.

Click HERE please, so I can up the sweet sweet page count. Thanks!

I've updated now. I'm going to do the time travel pack now, but we have nothing for the movie pack, so it's pointless.

Unless, there's a survey I don't know about...

The idea for this EP so far sounds interesting to me. However, is Island Paradise really the best name they could come up with?

I don't think it's fair to compare this EP to World Adventures especially after a Guru even said it was not taking after the vacation simulation aspect. It was more of an adventure.

But I do hope that with this EP we will finally be able to lay on the sand and use beach towels for something, such as a massage on the beach, or just relaxing, and I hope we can bury sims in the sand! That would be so cute.

"Sims can drive and live in boats"

Live-in boats have already been done by community. Not sure about the first part but I guess it means that Sims can drive the boats too. If so: drive where? All the way to China or just up and down along the coast?

Live in Boats, technically, haven't been done in the series before. Just buildings shaped like boats. On top of that, you can move them around the world. Of course, this will be better suited for worlds with a lot of water. I think you only have to travel from port to port (not resting mid sea for too long).

I'm looking forward to it. I just wonder what the other amenities are.

From what I heard it's a chain of small individual islands that sims can explore. I believe he said if you don't like the view, just go to a different island.

If it contains much of what was in the Island Time survey, the beach activities should be included. The survey mentioned beach volleyball as well.

It would be cute if they could bury each other in the sand.

A remix of a vacation EP that is more about adventures? Where have I heard that before?

Truth be told, I'm more interested in this EP than I was in World Adventures. The big-ticket features like running a resort sound way more simulation-oriented. WA was like a mediocre RPG with very little replay value, so I'm hoping this EP will make things right.

I'm going to buy this EP, but I would have started throwing my money at the screen if they would have included places other than just an island getaway, like a carnival, investigating the local mysteries like Loch Ness or something, or something like Bon Voyage.

Not that I don't mind what we are getting, but when I heard the possibility of a travel EP, I was thinking we would get more than one destination like in WA. I was hoping for another Bon Voyage where we would get the Asian place, the cabin place, and then the tropical island or at least more than just the beach. =/

Oh boy! Vacations with shops! Does this mean we get to operate the shops, too?? Because that would be really exciting!
Hopefully it's more than just the "island paradise" though :\ I liked TS1's vacation pack cos I could go to so many different places...

The survey says we can run little shops and sell crafted goods. Hopefully, other stuff as well or at least things we can put in our inventory, which means cars, plants, toys, etc. What be better is if we had a store inventory, similar to buy mode. Buy items and place them there, and sell em.

Also, what's in the background:

You are not the only one. I'm much more excited for this than I am for University. I don't make movies but I love this sort of thing. World Adventures is one of my favourite packs; I still take my Sims on vacation all the time. I also loved Vacation and was quite fond of Bon Voyage. The OFB-ish content is just icing on the cake.

Island paradise, boating, scuba diving and resorts are not the same thing as vacation, people!

I live in a beach town in California. The fifty-something night security guard where I work spends his mornings surfing The yacht harbor is full of boats owned by locals. I have friends who sail and kayak as often as possible. Plenty of folks around here earn a living scuba diving for sea urchins, which they sell at the Saturday morning fish market.

I've spent a lot of time in Hawai'i, Fiji, Indonesia... same story there. It's only the inland folks who think beach type activities are for vacations and not the workweek

And, of course, the resorts in these places are visited by tourists... but they are owned and run by locals, and the resort gameplay here involves RUNNING the resort, not staying at it.

So I think the WA comparisons are off the mark. Looks like a very interesting EP
