Default Native simming, part 1: Where'd you get THAT haircut?!
So I admit to being a little too ambitious in my last query, and as a result, I spent a great deal of time browsing through other folks' previously-posted ideas on Native American content: some good, mostly bad, and a few that were just really weird. SO, to keep it simple, I'm going to break this into smaller tasks, starting with haircuts for males. Here's what I'm seeking:

a) an actual scalplock: mostly shaved, leaving a small circle of long hair at the back top of the skull (where, for instance, a kippah or yarmulke might be worn). If left unbraided, this often gives the appearance of having the front half of one's head shaved clean, leaving the back long. Attached: a shot of my buddy Jim holding his baby boy at a re-enactment in Illinois:

and also Wes Studi and his compatriots here in LOTM:

b) a SHORT, straight mohawk, with or without the accompanying braid, as exhibited by this Pawnee gentleman

For now, that will do. The mohawk is of special interest, as I have yet to find one that wasn't of the "long and spiky" variety.

Hmmm...Y'know, there's a short female Maxis mohawk, rainbow-colored and found in custom hair. Maybe you could make a gender conversion?

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.
(My simblr isSim Media Res . Widespot,Widespot RFD: The Subhood, and Land Grant University are all available here. In case you care.)

I know it's not exactly the same, but it might do? https://flowermisty.tumblr.com/post/28158859307

That looks promising, but the dropbox link seems to be busted, unforch. I have a feeling that it's very likely going to be someone on tumblr that'll have what I want, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

Would that be a BodyShop operation? I'm on a Mac, so my tools are somewhat limited. I'll take a look at it. Thankee.

Ah, I actually use that hair as a default replacement for one of the ugly Maxis ethnic hairs, so I didn't check the link to see if it worked. Here's the default replacement link if that would do. http://simsibility.blogspot.com/201...adlocklong.html

As for the mohawk, female and male heads are shaped differently, so you'd need to adjust the mesh in Milkshape.

Edit: Is this what you were looking for?

Edit edit: I found the short female mohawk for males. https://www.thesimsresource.com/art...-set/id/394520/

The shaved ponytail is the closest I've seen to the traditional scalplock look. Ideally, the rest of the scalp would be shaved clean, or more precisely, plucked. One of the early European trade items in North America was the tweezer: a coiled spring, that when compressed would grasp the hairs, allowing them to be pulled out. I can scarcely imagine the pain involved in plucking one's entire head, which is why nowadays, if you want a scalplock, you go with the razor. Not that I, personally, have enough hair back there anymore to make it work... now that I'm now sufficiently elderly to look like I might be someone of minor importance, I can get away with wearing an otter turban at re-enactments, something usually reserved for "men of respect" in the tribe... but I digress.

It'd be nice if it was also for kids, teens and elders, although... when the guys got too old to go off on the warpath, they usually just let their hair grow back out, but little boys, as soon as their hair was long enough to warrant a haircut, they'd get the warrior scalplock.

How would I get the one in the picture?

Also, the short mohawk is much nicer than the other ones I've seen, so thanks for that!

The one in the picture is the one I posted earlier altered by me to remove the front braided bit. If you like it then I'll do the rest of the colours. It is also available for teens and elders, just not shown.

Edit: You can get it here http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2827643/, but you need the mesh from here. https://web.archive.org/web/2015010...20Road%20Dog.7z
