Actually yes....people still do play it. I don't think S2 will ever be dumped by people, you can play both. Our site caters to both games and we do have some S3 Sims ready for download there too. I think it will take at least a year to a year and a half before you really see a drop in S2 players, but most will keep playing in some shape or another until the base game has some expansion packs to give with it.

I have the sims 1 on my computer and I play it here and there to reminisce on the memories.

Anyways, Im glad that I didnt get this game the day it came out. the Sims 3 never strucked me as amazing as sims 1 and sims 2, and now that im seeing alot of negative reviews, I dont need to rush if I plan to get the game anyways.

Oh, I don't know about that. With Sims 2 you could have that really pretty female face and you could also have that "big mouth" face with ginormous mouth and ridiculously wide huge nose. There were also some with really long noses, down-pointed hawk noses, squinty eyes, big bump on the nose, etc. They were a lot more distinct. Only problem is it was the exact same 30(?) faces over and over. With Sims 3 they're all more similar looking, more neutral. I think there are a few with slightly unique faces like hawk-nosed girl in the Roomies house and another named Tamara that lives in Cycl0n3 Sw0rd's house, and I think the Bunch men look rather unique, but a lot of them are really hard to tell apart.

Zooming in and out is glitchy...yes you can do it but it's not smooth. I keep hitting tilt and it's annoying.

I also have a wide monitor yet those help boxes are hard to get rid up in the upper right corner.

Finding all the 'graphics' to set was a problem, but hopefully it will be brighter and better when I restart.

My game is very dark right now and my photos are coming out crappy because of it. Even when I use Paint Shop Pro to edit them, the coloring not good. (see my photos under the Males thread, particularly the second one.)

Sims 3 feels to me more like a console game retrofitted for the PC.

I like the game but I have a differing opinion on the 'well maybe it will be in the expansion pack(s)'.

I really don't want to see just a repeat of Sims 2 expansion packs with Sims 3 graphics. I would have hoped that the development and creativity team could have (will) think more out of the box. These folks knew what people enjoyed about the game, what was popular in each expansion pack and what people just went 'meh' about.

Personally I feel the base game should have had the community buildings, the self employment possibilities, the university possibilities already in the base. Not necessarily ALL of it, but a good part of it. THEN their expansion packs could build on that or... something else brand new.

The ability to absolutely create your own neighborhood should have been in base game, sorry, the 'real estate' and 'architectural / landscaping' components of the other releases were huge.

What I feel the extra time between February and now was used for was to strip what they have/had developed to the bare minimum so that they can release it a miniscule exp pac at a time, instead of just charging $90 straight out.

I like the game...but wish we could swim in the ocean and go into some of the places such as... the day spa, diner/bistro, grocery store...etc. My guess though, these will become part of the expansion packs.

lets hope that swiming in the ocean works without bugs than it did with the sims 2.

i also am not worried about the other things all to much, i mean least here there is a cheat to allow you to change the needs slider. Where as far as i know sims 2 didnt have that. I figure eventually someone will create a program for all that other stuff.

in the mean time i just keep playing the game and finding new things to mess with.

The big thing that disappoints me thus far is...they go into a restaurant, they go on a tour, they go shopping...and we don't see it! It would be way more fun to me to be able to see them in a crowded bistro eating, or browsing through racks with the townies. This is a big open world, I want to see them out and about. If they gave us nightclub community lots, casinos, fun nightlife stuff like that, I don't want to stand outside the door until they are done, I want to see the action. That's the biggie for me, and I hope they consider changing that.

Well, now I'm not sure if I want the game at all. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, but after reading almost everyone's negative comments about it, I might just send it back and get my money. I had hoped that it was going to be the blockbuster that it was made out to be, but from what I have been reading, that doesn't appear to be the case. Is there anyone out there that really and truly likes the game for what it is? Forget about what it doesn't have, but what you can actually do in the game(is it worth keeping or should I stick to my sims 2?)

Personally, I don't think the game is all that bad. I was really sceptical for a while but after playing it for a while I'm liking it more and more. Yes, it's missing a lot of features and everything isn't perfect but you gotta remember neither was TS1 or TS2 when they first came out. We're all playing with TS2 fresh in our memories, packed with cc and great mods, so obviously this isn't gonna look as good. I'm sure once cc starts coming out, people will start changing their minds.

I have never posted on here so this is kind of random...just wanted to rant hahaha

I'm VERY dissapointed in this game. Maybe this is because I don't really PLAY the game. I'm all about building houses and trying out new ideas. I was so excited to see the building options from the community lots in the pictures. Only to find out that you can't really make anything like the community lots (city hall, movie theatre, the market). There is only 1 neighborhood! (yes I know I could download the free one) but still, you can't even have 1 personalized neighborhood!? Besides being able to change the look of your furniture, windows, doors etc., the building and design is horrible.

Sims 3 gives me a feeling of an actual game. Like, you will advance to the next level after your sims get a raise, or get married...things like that. Which is not like Sims 1 & 2 (besides those little gifts)

I actually played the game for a few minutes...which if I didn't care about the building aspect as much, I would love the game. But this game is NOT for people who love to build. It doesn't even have a lot of basics that Sims 2 had.

I'm very frustrated and would like to get my money back but obviously I can't because I opened it! I can't even return a $50 game because just MAYBE I copied it. This society sucks!

ok I'm done....anyone feel me with all of this?

I guess what I loved about the Sims 2 was a result of custom content and modding (primarily building Sims and houses). The game play was actually getting quite boring, IMO. Everyone seemed to have the same personality and if I wanted to make a dark, moody Sim it was hard to do. That's what I am enjoying about Sims 3 is that I can make a Sim's personality and even their voice really different.

So, what I am lacking in realistic looking Sims, I am gaining in personality and interaction. Now, if the custom content and mod capabilities evolve for the Sims 3 it will be the perfect game.

The only reason I would argue with the "TS1 and TS2 weren't amazing at launch either" angle is that they've made a significant change in the fundamental style of gameplay from the first two games, specifically the way the game makes you really fight it to switch to another family, and the brokenness of story progression (which may be fixed by EA or the community or both). I can't get really attached to any of my families, because I know if I switch to another Active Family they may move away. I like to play the whole neighborhood at once. I can't anymore.

People who only play one household at a time won't mind as much (unless they plan on going back to another house later and finding the family the way they left it), but a particular style of gameplay has been severely changed/limited in a way that it was not in the first two games.

Don't get me wrong, I would never try to talk anyone into or out of buying the game; they've just removed my particular style of gameplay, for now, and it's disappointing.

I dont even own the game but I'm already dissapointed with this "store" thing. From what I hear, the game comes with very little in way of funiture and hair? So now (if I want more "stuff" for the game) I'll be forced to buy from the store? *Sigh* its hard enough for me to find a way to buy the game let alone buy things to go in it ='( I'm not made of money. So I guess now I decide whether to buy it at all. Either that or wait till our mods figure out how to mod this baby =P

And wow, no bodyshop?? egads... lol no, I never read up on the game, I stopped reading about it when we first started hearing things about it. I left the sims 2 all together and thought I'd wait for this one to be released. Heh, now I'm wondering if I want it at all. Some of the things you all are dissapointed in I would be too.

Personally, I really like the look of these new sims. TS2 sims looked absolutely terrible without custom content, but I think that these sims actually look decent without any add-ons.

However, I am really annoyed that we can't go into buildings and all with our sims and that EA purposely put very few items in the game in order to try to milk the money out of us, but my BIGGEST annoyance right now is the time. None of the speeds work for me and unless I fix it, I won't play the game. Someone in another forum told me that it was probably a hard drive issue, so now I'm uninstalling all of my Sims 2 to free up space (much to my dismay.) If it doesn't fix it, I don't even knowwww what I will do.

Did you put all of your downloads on a flash drive just incase you have to go back to S2?

After reading all the posts on this thread, I'm glad that I decided long ago that I wasn't going to buy it. I'll stick with my sims 2. I've been pretty bored of it lately though, but instead of spending the money to buy The Sims 3, I'll just buy other types of games entirely instead. When I do want to play a sims game though, I still think my sims 2 games are pretty great.

Well I looked at it in the store and placed it right back on the shelf, ever since The Sims 1 came out I've never done that. I also disagree with having to buy the furniture that's not right you spend all kinds of money on these games and so many people buy them I think if anything THEY owe us. I can honestly say I don't like the looks of the Sims in Sims 3, and also the comment someone made about the babies. I like actually feeling like I am there and seeing these events, rather than just *BOOM SPIN* baby changed. I liked my sims being able to go to the fridge and feed the baby and actually change diapers it puts more realisim in the game. As for sims having all the same personalities in sims 2, mine definantly do not they're all different and act accordingly. Even if I DL anime sims (ex-Death Note) or Video Game Sims (ex Phoenix Wright) mine tend to act just like they do in the anime and games. I also hate the fact that there is no body shop I love making sims, that is definantly a stopper for me. And I think EA made a mistake not putting one in, that's the beauty of the sims being able to create who and what YOU want.

I'm liking it way better than I thought I would. Some of the new features are awesome. I love the whole Wish and Moodlet thing. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that a Sim can now actually NAP on a bed! There are some other features which really struck me last night too but of course now I don't recall what they were.

Sims 3 requires (at least for me, forgive me, I am not a youngster) a learning curve. A lot of it seems new. Annoyingly new and I want to play not 'learn the ropes' so I was a bit frustrated after I shut down my computer last night.

Yes, I feel this way too. I stepped into TS2 from TS1 seamlessly. It wasn't difficult to figure out exactly what needed to be done right away. Learning TS3 is much more challenging.

Oddly enough, though, I feel like my Sim in the open neighborhood is actually more alone than ever. She rarely meets anyone because despite the over-abundance of Sims in Sunset Valley, it's very difficult to actually find someone to meet. I LIKE the open neighborhood and it's not even bothering me that time moves the same for the whole neighborhood, but there is something seriously missing.

As for time while working/sleeping in fast speed, on my computer it's running at about half the speed it would in TS2. It is slow but so far not painstakingly slow. I agree this might have something to do with hardware.

The looks of TS3 Sims is actually growing on me a bit. I was afraid the Sim I created would turn out looking like some horrible monster but I took a pre-made Sim and edited her and the result looks nothing like the original and is reasonably attractive.

I find that the tools for creating Sims aren't as limited for me as for some people. I'm not sure why, but it seems to me they're somewhere between BodyShop and CAF for TS2.

It does seem to me that some of the buy mode sections are very scant, but I was overall impressed with the amount of hairs (21 for females, haven't looked at males yet) and there are actually way more clothing meshes than I expected, and I actually LIKE most of them!

I about had heart failure when I looked at the make-up section, but then I realized I could customize all of the various make-ups to pretty much make them whatever color I wanted them to be, so that was nice.

The above doesn't mean I think the game is perfect, but I am actually finding it rather enjoyable, and the longer I play and learn it, the more fun it becomes.

Well I've just loaded the game for the 1st time-only took 2 minutes flat. I love the colour wheel, but lasck of hair styles was my 1st gripe. My 2nd gripe may just be me being stupid-but where the hell is the housing bin?? Am I right in thinking that its just like Sims1 for the houseing situation?

Me too! The something that I thought was missing (that I thought I would never miss) was the "welcome to the neighborhood" Sims that show up at your front door when your Sims first move into their house. I'm also sort of disappointed that my Sims can't live in town. the places where other Sims wander around and do their amazing stuff is a car ride away. I was really looking forward to seeing the community wander around an interact out side my windows!

I had read about this slow speed while sleeping. So, I figured while my Sims were asleep I would watch the community interact in town (parks, out side , the bistro, etc), but you can't! You can only see those things if one of your Sims is actually in town.

I am enjoying the game. It's pretty. The houses I have built are exactly what I've always wanted (minus the rounded walls that I keep hoping for). My Sims are wonderfully goofy. BUT I wish the claims that I had read on IGN had been true, that I could indeed easily switch from household to household, that the community was dynamic and changing all around my Sims, and that "the town" was seamlessly integrated into my game.

I do not yet have the game, but what I am hearing about story progression scares me. I do not want my sims to have babies with someone who they barely even know. I also dislike the whole aspect of sims moving out of town and such while the player has no say. Hopefully, the story progression will be fixed soon because I will wait to purchase the game until it has been fixed.
