Default Do mosaic floor tiles exist in The Sims 3?
I was thinking of converting some of nice linoleum floors from The Sims 2, but then I realize it may not even be possible. I can't find a single floor tile that use one texture across multiple tiles. So, are mosaic floor tiles NOT a thing in The Sims 3? I know they exist in The Sims 2, The Sims 4 and EVEN Medieval (there's actually a dedicated button in the GUI for mosaic floors), so I wonder if there's a way to trick the game into using more than 1 tile since Medieval and The Sims 3 run on the same engine.

I'm not sure I understand. As a pattern? Or as a floor in build mode? Could you provide a picture or two from TS2?

I've only seen the pool floor mosaics. Also a couple rugs with a mosaic type of pattern.

Chojrak has some interesting tiles that look rather mosaic-like (halfway down the page) https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/di...chojraks-corner
I really like that!

I'm talking about floor tiles whose design extends beyond one tile. For example, the linoleum I'm talking about requires 25 tiles (5x5) to display its full design (after that it starts to repeat the design). Most wood floors in TS2 also require multiple tiles to display their full design. If you ever use the colorful linoleums from The Sims 2 BG you'll know what I'm talking about.

TS2 Homecrafter Plus labels this as "TILE REPEAT " and it can be 1x1, 2x2 or 5x5.

I'm not sure if The Sims 3 supports 2x2 or anything other than 1x1.

I'm not sure if "mosaic" was the right word. I just don't know how to say it in English.

Maybe this image will make it clearer:

The Sims 2, Medieval and 4 have 2x2 tiles. I think TS2 is the only one that has 5x5 tiles. But TS3 seems to only support 1x1 tiles.

I don't think TS3 has this because of the CASt.

I don't think you can mix as much as 25 tiles. That is a lot. When it comes to walls. I think you have the template for murals. I have at least used them for TS4. They mix a finished template in regular patterns across a wall.
When it comes to floors you might want to try a pattern with tiles in it as normal and specular maps. They usually only consists of 4 though. With the cast tool as well. You can make a full floor mosaic pattern with 4 channels and on one tile, but I guess that's not really what you want.

I did some experimenting and apparently TS3 doesn't support this type of floor tiles. So I guess if I wanted to replicate this design in The Sims 3, I'd have to create 25 different tiles and then assemble everything manually in the game.

Yes, I think so. So many years and I never really thought about it.

It's a shame, TS2 and TS4 do a lot more with this. TS4 even has glow in the dark walls and floors. They don't cast light but they do illuminate.

Your question made me think of these floors.

It would really just be a matter of creating multiple tiles that fit together seamlessly.
Do-able, but probably time consuming.

It'd probably be easier to just use custom carpets exactly 2 by 2 tiles in side, filling in any irregular edges of the room with regular floor tiles.
