Is there any way to copy bone assignments from one mesh to another without having to manually do each vertex?

Check out Cmar's Meshing Toolkit, Bloom wrote a tutorial on how to use it for Sims 2 over here.

You can choose if you only want to do unassigned parts or the whole thing.
