If you use MasterController from Nraas you can add more then 8 sims per households. Here's the link http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController
You only live once make the most of it..:)

Combining Mastercontroller and PortraitPanel is the only way, it seems.

Actually Twallan recommends the use of 4-5 different mods: https://nraas.wikispaces.com/Which+Mod+FAQ

Or use Awesome, which will do it all - but it is a core mod.
(I personally don't want Woohooer in my game, so Awesome is much better for me, but that's a personal preference most people don't share).

Fear not the WooHooer! You don't have to have it in your game if you want to use Master Controller or any of his other mods. Imagine Twallan's mods like a Pick n Mix candy stall; you only select the things you want.

I know I don't have to have it - I have Master Controller that I use all the time - it fixes so many difficulties in the game! But if you want to have more than 8 sims in a household, and you want sims to be able to Try for Baby with more than 8 sims in the household, you need Woohooer... or Awesome. Hence I suggested Awesome. I appreciate it's not to everybody's taste.

I'm testing a challenge right now where I literally have 16 people in my home and it's working fine.
I just set NRaas woohooer to the desired maximum per household (under general / human settings) nd then my portrait panel kicked in to make sure everyone had a portrait I could click on. You could also do Master Controller as has already been said. I do have the Mover mod (to move teens out of the house) but apparently that helps smooth things over as well.

I have master controller and portrait panel loaded onto my game but I am still not able to get more then 8 sims. I currently have 2 adults and 6 horses. I want to breed more horses but the option says I’m at my Iimit. I eventually want my 2 adults to get married and have kids as well. Please help me out with this. Also, wikispaces is no longer available.

Yeah, the old neighborhood just ain't what it used to be. Then again, it never really was that much to write home about.
This thread is from 2014. We moved when Wikispaces went out of business and would have shoved us out the door, coming up on two years ago now.

This is the page you want to see.

MasterController has the option to expand household sizes beyond EA's limits, but only by way of issuing MasterController commands like Add Sim, Instant Baby, and Pollinate (makes a sim pregnant). In order to unlock Try for Baby on stuffed households, whether the parents to be are horses or humans, Woohooer is required.

Thank you for the new site. As I mentioned, I installed MasterController and PortraitPanel already because those are the ones that people have mentioned needing to have more then 8 sims in the household. I have never ever used mods before this and I really don't know much about them. Is there a place that can tell me how to use them and what exactly they do. I would love to know more about MasterController and all the different things it can do. I will download the Woohooer and see if that will help me to continue my family tree (I really don't want to kick anybody out of the house).
Also, on a side note, when I was playing my game yesterday I kept getting messages popping up about the PortraitPanel findings and something else about an error or something. I will have to write it down the next time I play if it pops up but I was wondering if this is normal.

There are hundreds to thousands of pages of documentation available at NRaas. Each mod that has its own commands has a master Interactions page and most of them have one to many FAQs. Let's take MasterController as an example. Here is everything it can do, all set out by command.
https://www.nraas.net/community/Mas...er-Interactions
And its own FAQ page.
https://www.nraas.net/MasterController-FAQ
And sort of a master index to How Do I Do This? kinds of questions, some of which are better organized than others (these are always a work in progress)
https://www.nraas.net/community/Gameplay-FAQs-And-Tips
We also have staff and experienced players/mod users at NRaas available to help answer more detailed questions. That is really where script errors should be brought for assistance in understanding what they are saying.

Do you want to use mods or not? Cause I think you can have 2 more sims!
One thing I discovered for a time ago, you can actually have 2 more sims if you have Pets installed! That means you can have 10 sims living in the household at the same time, without mods! But you have to be aware that the two oldest sims don´t show up in the sim panel, but no worries, just hit spacebar on the oldest visible sim in the sim panel and you switch to the second oldest sim. If you want to make 10 sims in CAS I recommend you to make 7 sims, make 1 more sim, delete it and quickly add 3 more sims in the household before the option disappears. But if you want more than 10 sims I´m afraid you need to use mods.

I'm pretty sure the limits on an unmodded game with Pets installed are 8 humans, 6 animals, 10 sims total (including both humans and animals). So yes you can have 10 sims, but only 8 of them can be humans.

Argle I'm running into this problem again and I have that mod. But on the household screen when I'm adding characters it gives me a random sim from the bin and refuses to select my own. And this is just with the 8th sim so I shouldn't even need to use any mods just yet! I had to take one out so I could set up some relationships and I'll have to set up the one I removed with the two others I'm going to make and merge the houses together later.

EDIT: Not the best pic, but they are 10 sims in this household!

But, actually. Right now I´m playing with 10 sims in my household without mods! I have been tested myself at it works with 10 human sims too. If you don´t beleive me, here`s a shot: EDIT: Not the best pic, but they are 10 sims in this household! |
Two of those sims are actually cats wearing clever disguises. Cats are devious and brilliant like that.
Okay, but seriously I have no idea how you did that and am not sure I've ever seen a household of 10 human sims in a modless game being reported on before. Sorry to press the point, but you are certain that mods were not in play at the time this household was formed even if they are not present now?

Yes, I play without mods. Only XML and ITUN mods, but I know they doesn´t affect that. Well, it seems I´m the first person to report this then! Although you can´t get 10 sims in the game, just CAS. There´s one way to get 9 sims though: You simply add a pregnant sim into the household into a 7 sim household. That has been working for me atleast! EDIT: This household are unedited, so no mods in this sim family.

Well, stubborn as I can be, I am open to being corrected and learning new things. Sometimes.
But I really was under the impression that 10 human sims in CAS was only possible with MasterConroller Integration or a Core Mod (like AwesomeMod) that would allow for the extra slots.

In this game you're surprised at anything any more? It's not so much coded as they threw a bunch of programming at a wall and strung it together with masking tape.

Duct tape, they used duct tape. And nothing really surprises me but I can honestly say I ha e never seen that in an un-modded game and I have played with pets for like 2 days unmodded and atill.has the 8 sim limit. I would be worried something somewhere is borked in my game as I don't recall EA or any gurus saying that was added with pets.

Duct tape is too sturdy.
Also it's a good thing I came across this thread because while I could add additional sims to my house via merging them, I wasn't aware I would need a mod to get their pictures to show up! So thanks for the heads up.
