Good chapter, Nat :D
Look like we're about to get some action soon ^^
And yeah, Hazel better warn her father, so he'll get more prepared to confront Abraxas even if his plan to not wait for too long is a good one since it won't leave too much time for the other to prepare too ^^
I wonder what Indigo's plan is, but right, the wedding is a distracting thing ^^

Wow, guys. Where to even start?
There goes five years of my life. 2nd August 2014, I was nineteen and had just finished my first year of university. TS4 was just on the horizon, being its disappointing self. Instead of buying it, I got reading this thread and became inspired by all of the stories that came before I did. I'll admit, I did not expect to still be at this. I think my glacial pacing has a lot to do with that, and I sure hope that all this time later, Tate and co manage to still be interesting and not overplayed.
Thanks to everyone who has ever rated or commented on my posts. It's really encouraging to see, especially in the form of comments. I can't stress enough how much I love getting comments! So a special thank you to @linesa for commenting on every post, to @Ghost sdoj, @TigerAnne, @Elynda, @Lady Chaos, @Rinthia, @A_Visionary, @meowcatmeowkitty for your support. @Umbracide and @OliverGetYourPen, I hope I see you around again. (Sorry if I forgot anyone!) But the most special thanks goes to @BL00DIEDHELL, for being a fantastic friend all this time, for encouraging me in all that I do and for helping me make all this happen.
Probably one reason there is less activity here is because of Discord, and I can't make it clearer: whether you've commented or you just lurk, you're welcome to come to our server. Just tell me and I can PM an invite!
I don't have a proper update for you. Instead, I thought about what might happen in an alternate universe...
Theodora walked in the front door after a long day at work as Sunset Valley’s mayor. It was a job that commanded a lot of respect and power. After everything she had been through over the past twenty years, Theodora could hardly believe how well things were going. She had pulled herself and her family out of poverty. She had fought hard to climb back to the top. And now here she was, with her fit young husband and teenage triplets. The others more or less long forgotten. And she preferred it that way.
It wasn’t long before the eldest girl, Trista, came out to greet her.
‘Hi, Mother,’ she smiled.
‘Hello, sweetheart,’ Theodora smiled back, going over to hug her daughter.
‘How was work?’ Trista asked.
‘Oh, much of the usual. Nothing out of the ordinary to report. What about you?’
‘Um, yeah, you could say that,’ the girl nodded. Trista was a good girl. She had a smart head on her shoulders and was almost certainly a future businesswoman. ‘First off, Rupert came back, can you believe that?’
‘No! Wow,’ Theodora said. ‘His parents always made such a big fuss over him going to Millington's.’
‘Turns out he was expelled, because of this other kid, Harry,’ she continued. ‘And then Harry showed up too, as a new student!’
‘That must have been an awkward reunion,’ she remarked.
‘Not half! But get this, he’s a demon! With red eyes and horns! A real life demon!’ Trista declared. ‘It was weird. Then he asked who we were. No, he asked if we were Farringtons. He already knew. Isn’t that strange?’
‘That… is rather strange, yes,’ Theodora said, looking strangely at her daughter. Trista had never been a fantasist, yet this story seemed rather farfetched. ‘Perhaps he knew you were my children?’
‘I definitely think he did,’ Trista agreed. ‘And the oddest part… His surname. He’s an Atwood. As in, Oliver’s surname.’
Theodora’s blood ran cold.
Atwood? As in Mildred Atwood, preferred to go by Millie?
‘Are you sure…?’ Theodora asked, after an uncomfortable pause. Holy shit, this was not happening.
‘Definitely. Do you think he’s related to her, or is it a weird coincidence?’ Trista replied, confused by her mother’s stricken expression.
No, it was no coincidence. Coincidences like this didn’t happen. Theodora knew that Millie was still alive, still free to do whatever she wanted. And if what she wanted was to have some half-demon abomination the same age as Theodora’s children, it was perfectly possible.
Fuck.
‘…I do think so,’ she sighed. ‘Trista, love. Please can you get your siblings? We need to talk, in the living room.’
‘Oh, sure,’ Trista said, concern spreading across her face. ‘Are you alright, Mother?’
Theodora had no response for this, instead shutting herself in her office.
Millie sat in the armchair, awaiting her son’s return. She was wondering how Harry’s first day at his new school had gone. Moving schools would always be a challenge for any sixteen-year-old, but the extra-special circumstances made it all the more interesting. The explusion from his previous prestigious boarding school had been initially frustrating. Millie was not pleased to see Harry’s temper explode in such a manner. He had been lucky not to face criminal charges. Fortunately, money went a long way.
But after the dust had settled, Millie realised it was a golden opportunity. Harry would be needing a new school. But since distance would be no issue thanks to teleportation, why not send him to none other than Sunset Valley High School? He would be able to finally meet the children of her old nemesis. What better way to get back at her than through her children? What better way to prove that nowhere could be truly safe for the Farringtons?
Harry appeared in a flash of light.
‘Ah, there you are,’ she greeted with a smile. ‘How did it go?’
‘Yeah, it was fine,’ he replied. ‘Hey, you’ll never guess what.’
‘What?’
‘Rupert just started too. They’ve sent him to the same school!’
‘Oh, wow,’ she remarked. ‘That’s incredible. I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised, given that they’re from Sunset Valley too, but I would have thought the Millers would have wanted him to go to another private school.’
‘Yeah, me too. Turns out he was talking to the Farrington triplets,’ he replied. ‘They’re the first ones I saw when I got there.’
‘And what were they like, in person?’ she asked.
‘I didn’t spend enough time with them to tell. The blonde girl, she seemed to have the most attitude. The other girl was scared of me,’ he replied, with a little smirk.
‘Good, that’s what we want,’ Millie said. ‘They’re her children. They can’t be trusted, and I’m sure as soon as she finds out who you are, she’ll make sure they hate you. She’s the enemy of our family. Never forget what she did to your grandmother.’
‘Don’t worry, I won’t,’ he promised.
‘Well, tell me about the rest of your day,’ she prompted. ‘Then I think I’ll get in contact…’
The next day, Theodora was working in her office, attempting to distract herself from the events of yesterday. She heard a knock at the door.
‘Come in,’ she called.
‘There’s a letter for you here, Mother,’ Trista said.
‘Oh, thank you,’ Theodora replied.
‘Who do you think it is?’
‘Probably just a bill.’
‘But it seems to be handwritten...’ Trista said. ‘Bills aren't handwritten on the front.’
‘Hmm...’ Theodora looked up, and frowned. Who was writing to her? ‘I'm not sure, then.’
Once Trista had left, she opened the envelope. Indeed, it was a handwritten letter. As she read, her heart dropped into her stomach. She knew that peace was over, and that things from now on were about to be very different…

Always glad to be here for ya, Nat! I've been a bit too busy irl to reply, but I make sure to read whenever I can!
The Abraxas-Miles showdown should be interesting. I'm rooting for Miles, of course :v
I can't adult today, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks! I had fun designing them. Though I was worried I wouldn't make the deadline. Fortunately not a problem in the end.

Thanks! I imagine Team Abraxas is very small if not non-existent. Team Miles is a strange place to be but hey, it's appropriate if one of two people are the opposing side.

There are three psycho villains in this story, and only one of them is the type to tell his child that he loves her.

So, folks. It's been a while. I'm not caught up, and in fact, haven't even read any of the current page, so apologies if this is a bad time. At this point, though, I think I've moved from hiatus to "shelved indefinitely", for all of my sims projects. I really hate to say that, but it's been ages, I haven't been able to motivate myself to catch up on goings-on in the thread, and I know there's been a lot of drama here. I'm not sure how many of my files I still even have, as there have been a couple of computer moves in the time since I've left, and the fact remains that I don't have a whole lot of time; for one thing, I do have other writing projects I'm working on. So, I would really hate to not give any closure to my writing, so I was thinking of posting three separate posts, detailing my in-depth story plans for my superhero series and both phase one and phase two of the Plumthorpe Files. Expect those soon, unless anything unexpectedly changes.

Hey, welcome back Ewenk I shall look forward to reading those posts. As you know I'm a big fan of the Plumthorpes and I just love comic superheroes, the sillier the better.
As for me, it's been particularly hard for me to get back into things recently, my heart hasn't really been in it, tbh, But I've not given up on it, I've plenty of ideas for future chapters (and even done some work on them) but the present chapter is proving rather more difficult than usual. But I'm soldiering on with it, and hope to have it ready soon.

Legend is history as we would like it to be. We pick through the dusts of time for what is worth keeping and, here and there, we occasionally find treasure.

Don't worry about having to shelf your stories, we understand. Sometimes shit just gets in the way. I'm looking forward to your explanation posts! Take care of yourself. :3

Hey, thanks for coming back, even if it's only temporary Your stories were fun. It'll be cool to find out what the intended ending was.
Also I am very late with this. Also also, the new character in this isn't mine.
*knock knock*
‘Oh! Um, Hazel. This is a surprise…’
‘Yeah. Charon came to me the other day to ask me about doing a job on a man called Austin.’
‘Oh, did he… He floated the idea around, but we were mixed on the idea.’
‘Well, I’m up for it. I’ve come up with a plan. Are you free to talk about it?’
‘Yeah, okay. Come in.’
‘How do we plan to travel?’
‘Have either of you ever been to Devil’s Port?’
‘NO.’
‘No, me neither. A shame, really. It sounds like the kind of place I could have a tremendous amount of fun in.’
‘WE MAY NEED TO TRAVEL USING A MOTORISED VEHICLE.’
‘Getting a car should be simple enough. ...I think I’ll drive, however.’
‘You can borrow my car. But I agree.’
‘I AM PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF DRIVING.’
‘Yes, but humans have their pesky rules, don’t they? Not following them will draw even more attention to us, than being red, giant, spiky and horny will by itself.’
‘TRUE. VERY WELL, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO CONTROL THE MUSIC.’
‘Agreed, but on one caveat - no Taylor Swift.’
‘FINE. BUT I WILL BRING BRITNEY.’
‘...Alright, deal.’
‘Well, it sounds like you two will enjoy your little road trip. As for the plan, I’ve been informed that Abraxas has other supernatural forces on his side, hence why I’m not going. Considering how badly I lost to just a regular vampire, I fear I would be more of a hindrance.’
‘Do you know what kind of supernaturals he has? And, very importantly, should I bring you one of Abraxas’ fingers?’
‘All I know is that a woman called Nephilim is some kind of witch, and there is also an alien quadruplet hivemind who also have some magical abilities. And honestly? Go for it.’
‘Okay. Understood.’
‘Can you handle it, if you are outnumbered?’
‘We’ll certainly make it as difficult for his lot as possible, won’t we? Even if we have to burn Abraxas and everything he beholds to the ground.’
‘UNQUESTIONABLY.’
‘Good. Thank you. I have no doubt you can make life miserable for him.’
‘Have no fears, we definitely will. Should we keep him alive, to toy with him again at a future date? Or would you prefer him to be put down?’
‘Keep him alive for now. He won’t find us here, so it’s not as though we’ll be at risk. It would be a waste to end him so soon.’
‘Oh good. That sounds ideal.’
‘Meanwhile, as you two go to Devil’s Port, Hazel has suggested going after one of Tate’s allies. She’s going to make a mess of him, take photos and then go to Tate’s office in City Hall to show him. And after that little bombshell has been dropped… She’s going to bring him directly to me.’
‘Even better! So you get to have some fun while we’re enjoying ourselves, as well! Do leave him a scar on my behalf, won’t you?’
‘Of course I will! It’s about time they faced some punishment.’
‘Wait… You’re going to then take Tate to be tortured?’
‘Hazel… you said you were going to be better than this.’
‘I’m not going to join in. I just don’t really care what happens to him at this point.’
‘I can’t in good faith sign off on that. I just can’t. Even though it’s Tate, I can’t knowingly condemn him to face the same fate I did!’
‘I’m sorry. Do you think I’m horrible for it?’
‘I… I can’t, I’m sorry, I- I need air!’
‘…Do you have to go ahead with that part? I was with you up until then…’
‘If I don’t… You know it’s only a matter of time until someone else on my side does, right?’
‘I know. And I know I can’t stop that. But… don’t make me agree to this. Not against Edward’s wishes. I think we’ve already triggered him…’
‘Sorry, Ellis. I didn’t mean to.’
‘I know you already apologised to him for it once, but if you really want to convince him you’ve changed, you need to back out of this. Let someone else do it.’
‘Alright. I will.’
‘Edward, I’m sorry. You’re right. I won’t take him.’
‘Wait, really?’
‘I’ll help Ellis do the job on Austin. We’ll take the photos and I’ll take him to City Hall to show them to Tate. But then I’ll bring Ellis back here, and then I’ll go home.’
‘…Thank you.’
‘You know I can’t guarantee anything after that, right?’
‘Oh yes… I’m aware. I’m… just relieved that it won’t be you.’
‘I should’ve realised. I really do want to be a better person… and seeing how it makes you feel…’
‘You’ll have to forgive me for being surprised that you care how I feel.’
‘I’m not my dad. Yeah, I was brought up to think the way he does, but I reject that now. I’m an adult, and I’ve made my mind up for myself. I want to prove that. How can I get you to believe that…?’
‘…You know that time I attacked him? I’m still amazed that I managed it. Because even with all of my anger and the bloodlust of freshly-turned vampire, I still froze when I saw him. He terrified me, and still does. Just your very existence is a reminder of him to me, and that’s very hard for me to cope with.’
‘Yeah… and when I realised just how much he traumatised you, once I’d stopped thinking of you as the enemy, the villain… I felt horrible. Same with all of you. In my head, I’d built you all up to be awful people complicit in Tate making us suffer. I was wrong.’
‘Hazel… Much as I’m not responsible for Tate’s actions, I am truly sorry about the pain he’s caused your family. Despite what he became, Miles never deserved what Tate did to him. At the same time, you’re right. You’re not him, and I need to recognise that.’
‘Thanks for saying that.’
‘Do what you need to do when it comes to Austin… Ellis wasn’t going to let that one drop, regardless, and I don’t blame him. It’s a parental thing.’
‘Will do. And anyway, after all this, I’ll be gone, come September. I’m going to uni in Bridgeport. If you see me, it’ll probably only be with Wednesday.’
‘Really…? That’s my old university. Well, I’m sure you’ll do well there. It’s a good place. I wish you luck.’

eyyyy here we go
Meet Aeshma the Romantic.
While he's not related to Rikard, Hazel or Aosoth, he - quite obviously - is aligned with them, as part of the demon group Miles fell into when he met Rikard and Aosoth.
Unlike Rikard the Destroyer, and Aosoth the Relentless, Aeshma's title is more irony than a description. His "role" is basically to flit from woman to woman, spreading his seed and siring as many half demon offspring as he can with the intention of a future demonic conquest of SimNation. So he's probably got about as many notches on his bedpost as Tate.
...Don't tell him that, though.

Ooh, nice character design.
Come to think of it, though, for Plumthorpe, my plans were so extensive and detailed that I could probably stretch out the posts for quite a while, especially if I brought out concept work and background and development discussion.

Guys, wow. I don't know. I'm going to need some time to think about this. Going back over my old posts, I've gotten genuinely into the intrigue. I had so much planned, you guys. So many characters and plots. I really don't want to abandon it, even to summarize it in brief. But I don't know how I can realistically continue my material, either. The sheer time commitment aside, all my files are on my old computer, which is a nightmare to start up and use. I'm not sure how I'd do it. I could start from scratch, but that would be nigh-impossible for Plumthorpe, since I had so much work invested into building. I could write them in literary form, I suppose, maybe on AO3 or something. The problems:
-I don't know if anyone would actually be interested in that.
-The visual design work is one of the strengths of my projects.
Plus, in the case of Plumthorpe, I actually have a Spiritual Successor I'm in the early stages of developing already, an original series of pulpy steampunk adventure novels. I would be repeating a lot of territory. I could do a continuity reboot, especially for the superhero stories, since they were a few storylines away from getting super dark, but I would hate to just abandon some of the Plumthorpe plot developments.
Meanwhile, there's stuff I'd do differently. I feel like my handling of mental health topics could have been better in the past in general (and I'm not even sure what that would mean for a character like Simplicio). If I were writing the unreleased Plumthorpe Atlantis trilogy now, I'd do it almost totally differently, simply because I've become aware of alternate hypotheses that are more compelling than the ones I was working with.
Ugh, there's so much, and this thread was super-important to me for several years. I invested a lot of time, and even actual money, into some of this work. I don't want to throw it all away, but at the same time, I can't imagine continuing any of it, really.

@ewenk As far as anybody being interested goes: I certainly would be, and I think I can say the same for most of the regulars on this thread.
I know, all too well, the perils of setting oneself ambitious goals: I've set myself some doozies, and if I'm ever to to bring my plodding tale to its 'grand apotheosis', I'm going to have to face the fact - there's only so much you can do with TS3. So, I'm the last person to advise you. That said, I'm sure that (as before) whatever you produce will boggle all our boggle-able bits as few have been boggled before.
And, for the superheroes: Reboots seem to be all part and parcel of the DC/Marvel universes these days. Satirizing that aspect of the genre would be fun.

Legend is history as we would like it to be. We pick through the dusts of time for what is worth keeping and, here and there, we occasionally find treasure.

Poor Edward. I hope Austin and (especially) Abraxas get what they deserve, though. And when Aeshma asked if he should bring one of Abraxas' fingers, I was hoping "finger" was a euphemism. But I'm disappointed in Rikard for his terrible taste in music. (His dialogue becomes extremely funny when you know what his voice sounds like. I have to read it "aloud" in my head now.)

Okay, I've reached a decision on the super heroes, at least. The story was ultimately going to go in a really dark direction, as I implied, and I don't really want to write that. Furthermore, the current story arc, while it would provide an effective resolution, would have changed everything, so I'm going to post my story notes starting with it. If I choose to make more in the future, it would be a reboot, probably one that keeps a much lighter tone than things were supposed to turn to. So, without further ado, I present the first of three story note posts for the adventures of Simplicio Scumthorpe:
The story so far:
Freshly back from his adventure in the Hollow Earth, Simplicio has begun construction on a new doomsday machine. Cardea is concerned for his health; the scar where he was impaled by a Tiberium spire has developed a strange green infection, which is only growing in size.
Meanwhile, the living arrangement of the younger generation, now in college, has changed somewhat. Galatea and Fara have purchased a house together in downtown Riverview--oddly enough, on the same hill where Galatea was killed in a now-averted alternate future. Fara has formed a magical bond with Galatea's cat Apedemak, and he has taken on the role of her familiar. Mike has moved in to Greenroof Manor with Mac, which is causing increasing strain as they have to hide their super hero identities from Riverview's most notorious super villain.
A batch of fresh recruits has joined the Midwest Guild of Junior Heroes. Among these is the wannabe super villain, Incompetent Girl, whose powers of preternaturally bad luck are a boon for the Guild.
As Simplicio's condition worsens, he has created an unconvincing robot duplicate of himself known as 5IMPLICI0 Shamthorpe. This latest stunt has worried the entire family, and Mac has gone to some lengths to acquire a Soulpeace sample, asking Fara to look into conducting a healing ritual.
Meanwhile, the occupants of Greenroof Manor have a new next-door neighbor, an elderly lady known as Mandy Bucholz.
There are two main story threads going on in this volume. One, which in retrospect, sounds like it would have been painful to write, is Mac's increasingly frantic attempts to hide his secret identity from his uncle, something which was eventually going to fail, leading to a confrontation. The other is Simplicio's worsening condition. As things progress it becomes increasingly clear that Simplicio is building a weather-control machine. This has Mike worried. Minor internet celebrity TimTraveller37 has made the news in conspiracist circles lately, claiming to be a time traveler sent from the future to stop the apocalypse. Most don't take this sort of thing particularly seriously, but after all he's seen lately, Mike isn't so sure that's a good idea. The alleged time traveler is vague on the details of what causes the apocalypse, but he claims it will come with a "violet rain" (surprisingly, not a Prince reference), and the timing of Simplicio's latest scheme to control the weather has Mike suspicious.
Meanwhile, in an utterly unrelated sideplot, Incompetent Girl finds out about the time during Door Man's interuniversal walkabout that he was forced to use his powers to kill an entire species of invading aliens, and develops quite a strong crush on him. He eventually starts to reciprocate, but they can't be together because her powers could kill him.
Finally, Fara finishes what she needs for the ritual, and attempts to stabilize Simplicio's mental state. This ritual seems to utterly fail. If anything, he seems more determined than ever to take over the world. The following night, though, Galatea awakens to a startling sight: Simplicio's ghost hovering over her. It seems that the ritual has split Simplicio's soul in two, and the ghost of his former self is both happy to see his family and terrified at what his living self is up to. He also finds out about Mac's super hero career and couldn't be more proud, however.
Meanwhile, through circumstances I never got around to figuring out, Door Man develops an immunity to luck-based powers. He and Incompetent Girl hook up.
Saguaro's final form, a glowing Tiberium-powered being.
It all comes to a head in a final confrontation against Saguaro, who, as he finishes building his machine, has turned completely green from his Tiberium infection and started glowing. He fully intends to take over the world, and for once, it looks like he might be able to do it. It's going to take all the heroes can throw at him to avert this latest threat. Saguaro quickly proves himself to be much more competent than ever before, and defeats several major members of the Guild who try to stop them. It's up to our heroes, including ghost Simplicio in a new holographic drone body, not unlike Galatea's, to defeat him. They have help from a mysterious and unexpected source: legendary mystery super hero Commander Buckethead! AKA... Mandy Bucholz. And yes, she wears a bucket on her head.
Ultimately, while everyone puts up a good fight, the final battle comes down to a one-on-one duel between the two Simplicios. Ultimately, goodness, or at least only moderate unscrupulousness, prevails, and Saguaro is killed.
Originally, Saguaro!Simplicio left the plot for good here. However, I realized that the thread would never forgive me for such a decision, so instead, he was to stick around as an extremely annoying ghost.
That was the end of the material I felt could be canon with anyone else's work. Going forward, everything was going to change. But more on that next time.
