Default Mods Causing Crashing Fix
So recently I was playing the sims 3,typically what happens is the screen is black for a couple minutes and then begins loading up.What randomly began happening is that when I would load it up it would say that it wasn't responding, then it said that the sims 3 has stopped working. When I took out my mods folder and played for only base game this issue did not occur. When I put my mods folder back in it began crashing again. All the mods/cu tom content that I had downloaded was completely updated and had worked before. My mods folder is around 20gb.What can I do to fix this issue?

Start the long process of testing. Use the 50/50 method testing half portions at a time. You also can check CC in Process Monitor if you use packages. And there are whole sections on this site dedicated to sims crashing issues.

Are your CC packages merged? How many are Sims 3 packs and how many are packages?

It sounds like you have quite a bit of CC. Merging your CC helps a lot with performance, and fixed my crashing issues considerably. Have you just recently added more CC to your game? Also, I tend to keep a "new CC" and "new mods" folder, and anything new goes into them. That way if I start experiencing game crashes or issues it's really easy to pull it back out, and I play test for quite awhile before they join my main merged content.
I'd also suggest checking out this link: https://www.nraas.net/community/TIP...AME-PERFORMANCE
I followed a lot of it and my game performance (and crashing issues) changed a lot. Especially once I quit playing fullscreen and bypassed the launcher.

Outside of that the 50/50 method for tracking down the bad CC is your best bet, Also, if you've recently downloaded new mods or content, go back and check the download source to see if they have any dependencies (Like food items requiring X mod or pack etc), just to be double sure that isn't the issue.
