Never had it. I didn't have a modern computer until right before Sims 2 came out (before that I didn't have one at all for years but from Xmas 1985 until about summer 1994 I had a Commodore 64. Had the original Sim City for it, too.) Sims 2 was one of the first things I got for it.

I just recently purchased all of the ep's for Sims 1. I started out with Sims 2 so never experienced the "magic" that simmers always talk about. I'm really enjoying the humour and quirkiness and it keeps me entertained for hours. I am now selling my Sims 3 ep's and sp's as for me, it really can't hold a candle to the first two in the series. Sims 2 is still my favourite but Sims 1 will definitely stay on my pc for those days when I need some whackiness!

I love the original sims rather allot. But it's just so quiet in game. I don't know if it's only me but I can't hear them speak. Or hear the T.V and Radio on a residential lot (Though I can on community lots) It just gets tiresome after a bit. It could be my 5.1 speakers and/or just Vista being weird.

Hey everyone, there's a section for Sims 1 (the original!) threads now. Wasn't that nice of MTS to do that? Check it out.

Addicted to The Sims since 2000.

if you are good at hexadecimal check out this

http://www.wsgf.org/dr/sims

it is for changing the sims 1 native res to what ever you want hint: for 1280x800 (which is my screen res) do 20 03 = 800 in 1280x800 and for 1280 it is 00 05

Reviving this thread now is pointless. I think it was made solely because there was no sims 1 section, but now there is.

I've tried going back to TS1 when TS2 came out, and I just couldn't. It was fun at first, but then I started craving TS2. Now that I'm into TS3, I could probably still go back to playing TS2 since they're not so different, but TS1 just doesn't appeal to me as it used to. What I really miss from TS1 though is the music, specially the Makin' Magic intro theme. Is there anywhere where we can download full TS1 soundtrack?

But at the same time, there's always so much to do on the lots, that you don't really notice the edges until you're bored.

I would still play it, but I am intimidated by Windows 8.

I recently bought TS1 from a seller on eBay because my disks disappeared years ago. I would spend hours as a kid playing them, specifically Unleashed (I still remember the UK tv advert that made me beg my parents for the games for my birthday). I still love it even today but when I introduced it to my 16 year old sister, she wasn't impressed. She grew up playing 2 and 3.

I loaded it up for the first time in I don't know how long today and I ended up killing 2 of my 3 family members in a kitchen fire within minutes. I backed out and loaded the household again and managed to set the same 2 on fire again. I gave up after that. Clearly it wasn't meant to be, ha!

I don't have any mods or anything for TS1 and I find it to be a real PITA keeping up with their constant mood swings and hunger.
