Default TS3 - Cyberpunk (and not so Cyberpunk) buildings.
So, I was active on MTS 3 years ago and I posted a couple of things in this group. I deleted all of my posts a while ago as I was quite immature, did not know how to take criticism and I said some quite hateful things.
I'm back now, hopefully a better person and with some new ideas.

I've been making a futuristic, cyberpunk themed (the genre, not the game) world in CAW. I've been sculpting the world, adding roads etc. and also building lots.

This lot is a high-end resort skyscraper.

ignore the stray bin.

Outside views (This will be in the rich area of the world, so it does not look as cyberpunky or dirty or gritty as the rest of the lots).

Reception.

Buffet.

Top floor resort. (Billionaires only allowed up here.)

Ground floor resort. (For millionaire plebeians.)

My favourite part: The Amazingly Useless, Technicolour Fun Pitâ„¢! Also a great place to murder someone.

Top view floor plan images are attached as there are already too many images.
CFE was used to make the building tall, unfortunately that means the 39 of the 42 floors are the same floor only lengthened.

Any suggestions on how to make this better? This is probably one of the few times I've not made a box in the sims 3. More images can be provided if needed.

That pit looks fun! The rest of the resort looks good, too, at least at night. Otherwise, maybe you should explain a little what you mean by "cyberpunk".
Maybe show some daytime pictures, too? The building (nor the world) look particularly cyberpunky to me, more like a Las Vegas type of area.

As a general piece of advice, if you build your world with a lot of buildings of this type it won't run very well. CFE is not the game's friend. It's better to mix with shells to retain performance. Also, the way you place dining tables half of the chairs won't be useable. You have plenty of space, move them away from the walls.

Yeah, this building in particular is not very cyberpunky. The rest of the world will be more filth, neon lights and concrete. This building is for the central island, a exclusive man-made island with luxury hotels, casinos etc, for the rich of the city. The residential lots in the city will either be cramped apartments in megacomplexes and decaying shotgun shacks on the outskirts of the city, or giant mansions and luxurious penthouses with no middle ground, middle class lots. I will take your advice and make an old town with the Late Night shells as well.

The world is Bigger Builder's Island, not my world. I should of clarified.

I'm having a bit of trouble adding filth and decay to the rest of the buildings, do you have any tips for what to do? I looked through debug, but there wasn't much rubbish and stuff in there.

What's the general limit on CFE'd buildings in a world? Because damn, I was going to rely on CFE'd skyscrapers a lot to make the world unique.

There sadly is no fixed limit in regards to cfe so you will have to try and err Some spaced out towers are surely not problematic, a town cramped with them surely is. Did you have a look at Boroughsburg? That is a medium-sized world that gives a perfect illusion of a large town. You don't necessarily need a big world and 200+ lots to make it look cramped. Especially when you plan to use many highrises you should keep your mind on perfomance (also, it's a pita building 200+ lots, let's be realistic here).

You can do a lot with textures/cast'ing/terrain paints in regards to filth and decay. Some of the wallpapers have different layers that make awesome overlays and look torn/moldy, Try them, experiment with CaSt. Crowkeeper and I used a lot of this in our Rowan Hill Manor. As for objects, you can use the sand piles from WA and cast them. There are some burnt rubbish piles, also the rubble piles from WA. Junk piles, a well placed fog emitter effect here and there. Just try things.

It looks very nice. That building should be very nice on the skyline in any city. I'm working on an asian world myself. I found some nice signs to fit on buildings.

To achieve a bit more cyberpunk I would use white or general looking lights in between the colored one's. The cyberpunk style sits in the contrasts. Your use of colored lights are a bit flat, you need more variety.

I'm not sure it's cfe buildings in particular adding weight to a world, but you will have to use a lot of unusable shells to make it look dense. Usable buildings will clutter it up a lot and make it hard to run.

You can download ready made buildings from different sites as CC. If you need links on that I will have to wait until my big stationary is up and running.

If you wonder what cyberpunk is, take a look at Tokyo in Japan. The use of lights in it's alley ways is probably where the style inspiration comes from.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice, @Volvenom. I don't quite get what you mean by on how to make the lighting better, if you could elaborate more I would be most thankful.

I tend to not like to use CC in building because if I ever put this up for download, here or elsewhere, I'd feel it would be a nightmare to find if the CC creators will allow you to use the content in your own creations, and if you do get permission, you then have a big block of links to different sites that downloaders have to go through, and there's always things like dead links etc. The only CC I'm using are Rabbithole Rugs. I'm planning on using the LN shells with Hidden Room markers in them to give the effect of a large city.

What do you guys think on using store content in worlds? I have the Japanese sets and Lunar Lakes that would fit in this world, but I don't know if many people use the store.

This building in particular is not traditionally cyberpunk along with any other "high end buildings" to contrast between the mainland city and the rich island. I think it was a bad idea to use this building as my first example, I will post more traditionally Cyberpunk buildings soon.

I probably can't just upload this pic, but Artstation

You see the picture has been built around black and white with selected bits of colored lights. It's also blue in one corner and orange in another. It's a cold/warm contrast in this picture.

I see this house is look like disco style LoL. I can expect what do you mean by cyberpunk from your avatar. Both with creations, made by authors, who are residenting here and also activists of M4B group, you might find those type of inspiration you expext to see at Zarathustra's profile https://modthesims.info/m/4184705 or among FloraFlora2's buildings. My opinion: this house has few of neon lights to call it cyberpunk. You need create more "facade chaos" to make it look more like Tokio Electric City.
Regards Vic ^_^

Here you can see more of my creations and conversions for sims 3. ;) I`ll glad to see your comments in.
