Default Need advice on setting up a futuristic world
I've found a cool futuristic world (Cronor) and I plan to play it soon. As it is a world set in the future it would be ideal if every sim automatically would have the Future Sim reward trait from Into the Future. Can NRAAS be used to give the trait to every existing sim and generated townies? If yes then how?

And another minor thing I want is the ability to engineer babies just like in the future. I know which NRASS module enables this but I'm not interested in its other features. Is there a mod that only gives the ability to engineer babies in the present?

Any other ideas to make the world feel more futuristic are welcome.

You should be able to use MC on city hall and select Sim>Advanced>Trait>Change to add the hidden trait to every sims in your town. Just click the x when the filter is applied so all sims are selected. But I don't know a way to ensure, that every newly generated sim which comes via immigration or is born in game, will get this trait applied as well...

You could use NRaas Dresser to set a futuristic dresscode for your townies (read here , scroll down to the valid parts section). This seems very much work in the beginning and I've never used it, but if you are really into the atmosphere, perhaps it is worth it?

I guess there is also a way of defining which cars are used by the townies and which cars are generated to give the feeling of traffic, but I have no experience with this, I would google NRaas+blacklisting vehicles and NRaas traffic if you want something like this.

I'm looking forward to other upcoming answers as I find this a really interesting topic

Disable immigration and just let your sims populate the world, they will all inherit this hidden trait. I know because it destroyed one of my earlier games when my sim came back from the future with future spouses. Next thing I know it after several generations I have like 30-50 sims with future traits and each one with future junk in their inventory. It's like a virus, plague.

I have a weird suggestion to the OP, which may or may not work. Play the game with this world once and save. Then change the NHD file in the save from this alien world to "Oasis Landing_0x0f36012a"

Next, start a new game with a random world and then save. Exit the save. Copy "Oasis Landing_0x0f36012a" into that save.

Then, load the save and create a family and then travel to the future. It should fool the game to load your save as the future world.

1) I've never tried it, so I don't know if it will work
2) It probably won't work if all those future world things are coded in the actual world file. (which I suspect is true)

3) Even if it works, it means you can stay in the future world indefinitely but you are restricted by all the restrictions of a future world such as limited "edit in town" capability. However, this can be overcome by NRAAS MC, simply enable lot menu and you can click whichever household you want and "make active" to switch. Likewise, you can split your household when it gets too big by clicking an empty house and using NRAAS MC, "add sim" to it.

Interesting idea! Do you think the world would need the future world flag as described here to function as intended?

That's the part I don't know. I think the flag is probably set in the world file, so that's why I don't think this would work. But it is an interesting try though. Originally I had wanted to try this with university before I realized you can actually build a university in your hometown with varying success.

Actually reading that link, I think it pretty much confirms the flag is set in the world file. But that tutorial pretty much help you modify the world, so it should work. I've never tried it but looks promising if anyone is interested.

Edit: You know what? I'm bored. I'm going to test the method I mentioned above and see what happens. BRB

1) Ok, scratch the idea about replacing the nhd file, all the flags are indeed in the world file.

Let me try the link provided above to modify the world file. However, the future world can only be loaded through the time portal, so I think we still need to have a renamed nhd to load the world.

2) OK! Testing complete. You do not need to rename any NHD files as save files won't work. Follow the tutorial in the link by @Smyrrna and it will work. It's really simple actually.

A) I opened up setra.world (after making a backup) with S3PE and imported all the files for the future world as instructed.

B) Rename Oasis Landing.world into a backup (in the game folder) and then copied the modified Setra world into the folder and then renaming it to Oasis Landing.world

C) Started a new game and just travel to the future. It loaded up Setra future world and placed my sim in an empty house. I used NRAAS SP rapid immigration and it filled the town with sims + "future sims" hidden trait. All service sims are created via Register and are plumbots. The taxi that travels around are hover taxis. etc...

Likewise, you cannot split household or move other households etc... in edit town, just like original future world, but you can overcome that via NRAAS MC as described above.

This is cool, I want to make Boroughsburg my future world hahaha, a true dystopian!

Interesting tips! Also I forgot to mention, I would like Plumbots and Simbots to be able to spawn as townies and NPCs. Can that be done, preferably without NRASS Story Progression?

Yeah, I just use SP to "speed it up" because I don't want to wait for it to populate. Basically the tutorial above will make whatever world you want into a "future world." The only caveat is that you have to travel there via the portal.

This is neat! I think it is the most elegant solution to get all the future aspects with only one change. It is surely quicker and less of a hassle as trying to imitate everything in the home world. It also provides the "engineering baby" option without the need of any mods.

But what about the aging aspect? Is it off in the future just like it is on vacation?

You've never been to the future? Aging is on in the future. It differs greatly from other vacations as not only is aging on, but you can stay indefinitely.

The only real problem is that certain professions won't work, such as firefighter. But at least you can get that mod which enables all the regular RH jobs to work in the future.

No actually, I only purchased the expansion some weeks ago and haven't reached the right point for traveling yet

I just found the most amazing thread, doing exactly what we are looking for:
https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=643041 inserting the future world behaviour but leaving the world as a home world! I'm quite exited!

I'm wondering if it is possible to make it your homeworld simply by using NRAAS Traveler's "make homeworld"

Am playing Cronor now. Wonderful world. As usual I am going through it lot by lot making minor changes. I looked at it in CAW and wish there was room to expand a bit more but no. Very well done world. As for the Sims, I have so far just changed the outfit on one bartender.
