Default Low Quality Textures Even On The Highest Settings
Hello, I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but something's been plaguing me ever since I've decided to switch to The Sims 3: my game is so low quality, even though I'm on the highest settings. I've done all I could think of — read through a dozen threads on The Sims Forum and MTS, optimizing with GeForce Experience, Nvidia Profile Inspector, reverted the GeForce Experience settings, downloaded the GraphicCards on carl-sims-4-guides files so my card would be recognized, even tried the HQ mod (and adjusted it to my GTX) but still my game looks so... blurry and low quality.

Some years back, when I had a worse setup, my game actually looked prettier and sharper? And it's not even nostalgia clouding my memory,

So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and what I could do to solve this.

Sims' eyes are all blurry, the trees are all low-poly, the tattoos continue to be blurry despite me altering the ShaderSkinComposited (or something) in the GraphicRules.sgr. I'm no sure the game should look like this, on the highest settings? And I can't seem to figure out what exactly I'm doing wrong.

I've limited my Framerate through 3booter and then using Nvidia Profile Inspector, I've tried the game windowed/resized, I've tested default/skins and eyes to make sure the problem was not, like, me being stupid. I also updated my graphics card to the latest version through GeForce Experience (

(sorry for the dark/extremely large shots?)

(with hq mod but stil...)

1st of all, I'm pretty sure your original screenshot was done with the HD/HQ mod. You might want to find it and install it again, there are a few variants, so I hesitate to link.

2ndly, please provide your deviceconfig log file, just the bottom part with your system information, so we can see what your game is doing.

I'm pretty sure at this point I hadn't installed any hq mod?

Also, at this point I only reinstalled the base game and changed the .srg to match my Nvidia card:

Wait, the 2 new screenshots, are you ok with that? Because those look fine to me, especially the last one.

This might be the cause of your problem if you're still getting the low res details. Btw, do the low res details ever get replaced by hi-res? Just takes a delay?

This is the amount of RAM you have when you "started" the game. That is not enough. Typically speaking you need around 5 GB since the game can use up to 3.4 GB and you need another 1GB headroom before your OS start to cache the virtual cache.

However, even if you are running a clean game with min CC, say only using 2.5 GB, which is how my game is running, what you have here is only 1.3 GB really for the game. Because of this, your system is constantly caching the virtual cache and the TS3 texture cache, this is why you're seeing low res textures, they just never got a chance to load the high ones.

There are 2 helpful suggestions.
1) You need to close all unnecessary program when you play. I assume you have chrome open or something? Web browsers these days can eat up GB of RAM. Try to reduce program usage when you play. You can also go through your system setup and remove any unnecessary updaters, program maintenance in your "services" or "boot up"

2) A very simple one I learned recently. Set "high detail lots" to 1. It's my preferred now since when you play, you're mostly focused on 1 lot anyways and this dramatically reduce the RAM usage. It prevents future error 12s when your game become bloated.

3) Unpark your CPU cores will reduce latency in texture switching.

okay first thank you so much for your help you're being really helpful and shining a light on the mess that's happening high now.

Regarding the RAM issue, I turned the high detail lots option off along with mirrors and also edge smoothing. and it worked well! My free memory was ~4864MB, but I also don't think that's the main issue with the textures? I playtested a bit and when I zoom in in tab mode, the textures of the eyes get super HD but ONLY when I'm super zoomed in. It's weird. Besides that, the lips' texture's okay now! I also think the brows are nicer. But I really expected better with all things (except the ones i turned off) on max and a HQ mod.

edit: oh about the CPU unparking, I didn't find the registry file linked on the site of ParkControl and I'm too scared to do it on my own. It's the program the only way now?

It's been a long time since I played the game, tho. Maybe the textures and the seams are, like, supposed to look like this?

Hello!

I'll tell you to follow this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfi.../?id=1131162350
It has helped me not only with performance but also to fix all those blurry and ugly details, it's actually something you have to edit in the graphicsrule
