Default Distant Terrain CC Sharing Thread
Dunno if there is one already, but I have made my first Distant Terrain CC. Whoo. In fact, this is my first Sims custom content.

And here's the download. http://www.simfileshare.net/download/3625564/

You can pretty much use it any way you want to. Don't really like how the colors turned out but hey, you're never really great on your first time, right? But anyways, we are sadly very short on Distant Terrain CC. Especially the good kind. And I still barely know what I'm doing with Blender, but at least I know how to do things in it. I feel like I'm back in Kindergarten, sounding out words.

So if you have some good (or terrible) distant terrains, share away!

Here's another of my creations: An alien world for those who love Lunar Lakes. I might do a new version to fix the sea area, which is kinda flickery since I didn't cut it. I just loved how it looked and didn't want to do too much cutting in Blender. Also, I was able to make such precise cuts by simply lowering the cube to a point where some of the higher elevations covered it so they weren't 'eaten' when I used the boolean tool.

I used a variation of the macros from HydrangeaChainsaw's tutorial. I altered the file so it would use the Advanced Perlin generator, and I made a couple copies of the macros to use for some weird-colored alien worlds so I wouldn't be totally lost if I wanted to do something more terrestrial-ish. Also fiddled around with some settings in the Advanced Perlin and Curves unit.

Here's the .Sims3pack file: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/3632383/

Please excuse the second post, but I felt it was relevant to add a second one for this creation. Would love to get some feedback for this Distant Terrain, and if you've used it in your own custom world, show me some pics!

Edit: I cut out the water in this new version, which cut out a lot of flicker, but I unfortunately could not cut out these artifact shadows. Weird.

Welcome to MTS. You can edit posts to avoid being tar and feathered for double posts. Depending on what you are doing you do not need a distant terrain. Use a large enough map where you can sculpt the edges and set the camera to create the same effect. That is basically what I did for my first world on I put on the exchange, Storm Island.

I felt disheartened because I thhought i was anothersimlatetotheparty with regards to all this modding stuff.

Do you mind telling me how hard you found it to create a custom distant terrain? How many hrs learning and creation?

Don't feel like helping me out do you? hahaha just kiddin'..

Go to hydrangeachainsaw's Tumblr. She has a great set of instructions for making distant terrains. However, use some common sense when following instructions, and if they don't work out like you want them to, experiment.
