I downloaded this house. I didn't get any viruses, but it keeps crashing my game. It's so unfortunate. It looks like a lovely house. Too bad.

great work =]
however, i noticed you used windows by windkeeper @ thesimsresource. i dont know if anyone else has mentioned anything, but she explicitly states that she does not allow the use of her creations in uploaded lots, not even on TSR. just a word of advice, since i also had used her windows on one of my uploaded lots when someone alerted me to the fact that we arent supposed to use her creations in uploads. im definitely not trying to knock your work, but for future reference and just in case anyone gives you any trouble about it (as i think she's here on MTS2 as well.)
DO NOT under any circumstances upload any of my lots to the exchange!

Has anyone managed to get the lot to load, and actually been able to play it? I would love to be able to. Beginning to think it isn't worth all the trouble I have been having, though.

I gave up after trying everything I could think of including starting from a brand new install of my game with no downloads other than this house. (so that I knew there were no conflicts) I also went through all the steps to make sure I had the firepace installed properly, etc.
Also I can't see the point in me fighting to get this lot working when Ambron hasn't even responded to any of the concerns since August 14 and the lot getting promoted to featured lot status.
With the exception of Beach House 37-144 (requested), which only requires the main expansion packs, all of my lots have been made with Family Fun Stuff installed.

bvmiles, I did exactly the same thing. I also checked my files with Sims Clean Installer to make sure no duplicates, then, ran them through SimPE to make sure no duplicates (found several and got rid of them). I have tried everything I can think of, and I don't understand why the lot is being promoted with feature status when it doesn't work for an awful lot of people and Ambron hasn't addressed the concerns. Does anyone check these out before they become "featured" which gives one the feeling that they must not just look amazing, but must be very playable and safe as well. This one totally CRASHES my game whenever I attempt to enter the lot.

not to worry carol6552, Delphy has been notified and assured me that it would be looked into.

To carol6552 and bvmiles according your posts at page 3 of the comments, when you both should read my comment on page 2 post 31, you could see that i was responding on your comment, and carol6552 i sent you a private message in return where you asked me how to get rid of the flashing trees in front of the house. I even asked on the creators forum if there was a virusscan for the uploads because there was a complaint about a trojan virus that should have come with the package. But after 5 days there was still no answer so i removed this post. Please don't say that i am not concerned. Because it isn't and it is not fair.

Ambron, just found your message, apparently something has become screwy and I am not getting any notifications of messages as I had in the past...however, in your response you say that the flashing chimney and the missing plants are not why I am unable to load the house. So, I am asking again here, what is the problem? I am not alone. I have seen several messages on this thread, and also have friends online who have also not been able to load the house without crashing. So, please? Can you tell us what the problem is? I don't know about a virus...didn't get anything like that, but it is such a shame that the house which is really amazing, as I have said many times, is unplayable. As I have said, I have checked and rechecked with both Sims Clean Installer AND SimPE for duplicates, etc, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have a fairly new (less than a year old) computer...I have 2.8 MHz CPU with 1 gig of ram, an NVidia 7800 gt video card with 256 MB onboard ram. I run on Windows XP. I have all the expansions plus both extra packs. I have finally deleted the house from my downloads as I honestly don't think it is ever going to work for me. I am sad about that. I hope you can get it working.

The only explanation I can think of
Hi carol and to everyone who are having trouble with swimming with dolphins,Last week I bought and installed (and uninstalled it too) Mcafee virusscanner, suddenly I hardly could enter my big and detailed lots. Playing was almost impossible. Altough I de-activated it. Before that I used VGA and everything worked fine. Maybe you have Mcafee installed?
I need to say, that because I wanted to build max houses on max lots with a max of details and also being able to play on it with at least 3 Sims living in the house. I upgraded my computer system a few month ago and have at the moment on C a free working space of 40 Gb. I work with two harddisks where I installed Sims 2 + EP's on the other one. I am no computer expert and are always in need of a good advice, so I also bought a new motherbord
as I was told that smooth playing depends on the communication between the components of hardware installed. No matter how many memory cards you put into the box it needs to be working together.
If someone should think it is rubbish I am telling, please come with a solution that works, so everyone can enjoy playing this house. Because I realy don't have a clue.

Ambron,
I did read your post on page 2 and was responding to it... (I've read and reread every post in this thread trying to figure out what I might be missing) if you take another look you will see that I was trying to help you figure out what the problem was. (post #34, #36, #37, etc) In fact I spent 4 days trying. I even went as far as uninstalling my game totally to try and help you.
My system is strong enough for the game. That isn't an issue. In fact, I have a gaming computer that specificly made for graphics entensive games, and I also have a separate 30 gig drive that I have set aside for Sims.
As for that one post about viruses and trojan horses?! Don't give it another thought. I have never run across another post where someone's creation gave others a virus. And unless someone who wanted to infect another person's computer wrote a virus specificly to run in a .sim2pack or .package format, I can't see that effecting us sim download addicts.
I guess what I was mostly bothered about was that you weren't posting any feedback about the problems and that made you appear not to care that your lot was crashing people's games. I wanted to help you figure out what was wrong with the lot so that you might upload a copy that was working totally so that everyone would be able to enjoy this great looking lot.
I appreciate all the hard work that goes into making large lots (been there and done that). I just wanted to help you fix it for everyone.
With the exception of Beach House 37-144 (requested), which only requires the main expansion packs, all of my lots have been made with Family Fun Stuff installed.

Hi Ambron, no, I do not have McAfee, so, no, that is also not the problem. I have 2 hard drives - one with 300 gig - storage only, one with 250 gig - still has over 150 gig free, and that is the drive I use to play. I honestly don't think that is the problem. I wish I knew what it was. Could you perhaps check over your download file again, and make sure everything necessary for the lot is included? I know it is a pain, but maybe there is just a little something either left out or added that shouldn't be? I mean, I have a very clean install when I loaded your house into it, the entire game crashed. I NEVER crash. It is a significant thing. Thank you for sticking in here.

hello bvmiles and carol and everybody whos games is crashing
While I was taking a shower, I suddenly realised that when it becomes tricky adding walls, I use the walls hack from Numenor. I am sure I did for some walls in Swimming with Dolphins, but Clean Installer doesn't show the use of these walls and afterwards this could be a reason to crash your game.Do you have this wall hack?
About the flashing objects, I think it only can be the use of an other re-colour than the one that came with the package, because if it was the object itself the whole house should have been flashing for there are more items left out than kept in.
If this still isn't solving :the problem, I am going to take an other shower, I think.

a hack like Numenor's wall hack would cause the problem. As for the recolors, probably not.
I'm just getting ready to shut down for the night so will check this in the morning and let you know.

Hi again, Ambron, no, I don't have this hack, what does it do? I almost never use hacks, as whenever I do, it usually screws me up, so I try not to. So, what do we do now? I don't know much about hacks, sorry.
bv, let us know what you find out in the morning. I will check in then.

Hi Carol 6552,
It is called a hack because you ad a peace of text in the wall text-file of the game.
This thread is here at MTS2 under building mode sets page 15. You can build almost everything with it, on bumpy grounds etc. you have to read it yourself. It is working just perfect for me there are no side-effects. I can recommend it. Ofcourse it is a choice to install it.

Thought I'd make a quick post to let you know what's going on so far.
I'm starting with a brand new install (game stopped running yesterday after the EA installer update for family fun stuff... not lot related)
I've editted my scripts, etc... nope
using clean installer:
tried installing lot with cc... nope
tried installing just lot... nope
checked for hacks listed in clean installer... nope
am just about to try some checking in SimPE, changing graphics settings, etc
With the exception of Beach House 37-144 (requested), which only requires the main expansion packs, all of my lots have been made with Family Fun Stuff installed.

Experienced Diagnoser Needed
Did you build this house with a family in it? How did you get rid of the family?Did you use custom music?
Before I go on with all of this I want to make one thing clear... I am a beginner at this whole diagnostic thing, I haven't had any other lots crash before, but really wanted to help you figure out what is wrong with the lot, so I am still learning.
With that being said, here's what I have found with SimPE Starting in a brand new neighborhood with no sims and with only Swimming with Dolphins installed and placed (still crashing when halfway loaded)
(get ready for this it is quite a list)
I opened and loaded my new clean neighborhood in the neighborhood browser in SimPE, selected Lot Description (LTXT) and went through the list of Resource Information Items and this is the list of areas that returned errors:
Binary Index
Face Arch XML
Face Modifier XML
Face Neural XML
Face Region XML
Family Information

Lot Description
Material Overload

I also looked at my logs in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs and found:

That is an ugly thing
I cleaned with Clean Installer there I also removed the family. Then cleaned all the furniture and recolours. No Family Fun Stuff ever had or installed. That audio error is apearing in my cheat console and in my log file too.
I do realy not know what to do with what you just found. Maybe I should go to the forum with this?
