Default Default Replacing Service Vehicles with new mesh & textures
Hi, I would like to make default replacement of the service vehicles in the game (i.e. Taxi, maid car, delivery van, police car, firetruck, etc), with a new mesh as well as textures.
I followed this tutorial - http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=3691 - replacing not only textures but also GMDC files with those of the mesh I'd like to use...
And this tutorial - https://le-plat-du-jour.livejournal.com/22703.html
Attempting to replace the taxi. It did not work.
So I am wondering firstly, is this even possible? I've seen texture replacements on this website, but not necessarily mesh replacements... And secondly (if so), is anyone able to recommend me a comprehensive guide on how to accomplish this?
Cheers

The one by Le-Plait is for Bodyshop projects, so maybe not that one.

Also not sure if you can use the bed tutorial for this. Vehicles are a bit more complicated.

Just a tip, but find a replacement vehicle that already exists (there are several), see what it contains (which resources), then have a look at the tutorial. That helps a lot because you'll know if you're on the right track.

For mesh replacements of animated objects, you need to make sure you use the proper mesh, so you can't replace it with the "obj" version - you have to extract the "GMDC" (right-click/extract) and maybe do some changes if need be, and when finished, import back the mesh (right-click/import). You can NOT use the "Import" button. Then it won't work properly. All on-lot vehicles are animated and need bone/joint assignments to work properly.

Here's a few replacements that cover quite a lot of the cars, in case you want to snoop around in the files:

Thank you for your reply Yeah I had a feeling that the taxi's & service vehicles would be more complicated...
I'll have a snoop in the links you have given me and see if I can figure out what I need to do.

Does look like the vehicles in the links are somewhat more complicated than a mesh and a recolor, but not sure if that goes for all of them. I had a look around, but I can only find recolor tutorials, unfortunately.
