So, for $2,000 US, you can buy an iMac with a i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HD, a 675M (mobile) graphics chip, and a 27 inch monitor. Clearly the choice for a discerning buyer looking for the best bang for the buck.

Folks, if you love your Macs so much, go bother Apple about why you can't run an EA game on it. Then you can come back and complain when the Apple tech guru tells you to go buy a PC to play the damned game.

hahahahahahahahaha ! I can't beiieve what I read here

All you are able to do is some kind of Apple bashing only based about what you heard here and there and without the basic knowledge of the platform.

Beyond this : you even don't ask the right question which is : why EA is not able coding right his ported ciderized game on Mac ...

example : Exception Raised Errors many Mac players encounter with the patch 1.42 and Seasons are typical Windows errors we get ONLY because EA didn't do the job.

You make me laugh because you believe the Mac is unable to run a game

You are such ignorant both on Mac and Windows that you should be ashamed to propage wrong rumors and bad informations

In addition : the price you wrote is wrong

In addition : the constant lack of respect Mac players get around is a real shame since The Sims is as old on Mac as on PC ( since the Sims1 in fact )
So, next time anyone is advising to buy a PC, try to be a bit less stupid at first.

So, your so-called knowledge is nothing else than somekind of bashing to render your little person a bit more interesting. Pathetic.

I guess Firaxis isn't a real game company, nor Civilization a real game.
Or Call of Duty.
Or Batman Arkham Asylum
Or ... oh look now there is this shamefull-but-still-usefull-for-stupid-pc-convert-to-mac-or-hipster-user-Mac-App-Store full of games !
And real ones ! I mean, way more elaborate than Minesweep or Spider Solitaire !
Wow ... must be why we pay 2 000$ a computer ...

Thanks maybefrench.

Gosh, it's hard to find some answers and/or to explain few things as soon we say : Mac here.

Dunno, but the web is full of websites crowdy of PC users who can't get The Sims 3 working fine and as soon you dare to say : I'm a Mac player, direct bashing on your head ...

It's really tiring to encounter intolerant people

Actually, what just baffle me is as soon as you say you have a mac : than there is your problem. You have a mac, change computer, take a pc, no more problem !
Yeah right -> Season's problem Thread on Sims3.com -> 66 pages

Yeah right.

You know what, it reminds me those commercials : "Hi, I'm Mac !" :D

Incredible isn't it ?
3 years I play the Sims 3 WHITHOUT any problem ( regarding to the tons of problems on the PC side they had to solve with dozen of patches )
And now that some Mac users have a real problem with the last expansion + patch : the only answer you get is : buy a PC .... Extraordinary indeed

That's what I wrote and that is a fact, a reality. Not a phantasm of some Mac user. Strange after all

Oh, geez, I've attracted a Mac fan club. Look, I'm not the one who has an issue with Macs. EA is the one with the issue. And good luck getting it addressed.

As to the value of Apple/Mac hardware, I think I stand on pretty reasonable ground, as I am well aware of its capabilities, and its limitations. As to the cost of Mac hardware, well, that price for those specs is off the Apple website, not off the top of my head.

But hey, "You're Macs", knock yourselves out.

Not unless you have a Mac.

(In all seriousness no, it will not if you are talking about the 7zip program, it should be fine. If you are having a problem with it or things opened with it, I would suggest posting a thread in the help section, as this is not the place.)

Edit: Come to think of it, I had trouble with the patch on a windows laptop. This patch is just trouble.

Indeed. The 7z. programs are working fine. It shoudn't mess your computer. A bit of cleaning ( program files, registry, etc ... ) maybe ?

Yes ... I know ... I shouldn't say that ... but the temptation is far too strong

On my Super-Mac-who-didn't-coast-2000$-but-less, I never had a single problem with .7z or any other zipper ...

Joke appart, think about doing a good Xmas cleaning to your computer

+ 20 ! This patch is troubled, really. Beyond this, nothing to do. I tried many combo. The only one which successed ( and not entirely ) was to avoid Supernatural in the install. But the choice was not hard at this step, I preferred re-install everything EXCEPT the last patch and Seasons.

Damned stuff

Which ones ? Please, give us some examples of the "limitations" you wrote ...

What can you do with your PC a Mac can't do twice best ?

Oh yes ! I know ... using Sims tools with Microsoft .net frameworks ! hum ...... in fact no. I can do that too. Except I disagree the use of .net frameworks versus the fact that clever people should use C+ and give universality to their tools in order to do better stuff for everyone.

So, by the hell, what a Mac can't do ? We can even handle with Windows on Bootcamp or any VM ... Can your PC do that ? I mean, playing with an OS X system ? loooooooool

So please, next time you try to impress someone with your knowledge, get a PC user or a Mac noob.

In addition, do you know why i have less than 20 messages on this board ? Because I'm here for few years. But never got any problem with my Sims 2 and 3.

But I forgive you. After all, your prejudices belong to you. And it's Xmas soon :D

First thing first : hell why a "fan club" ?! Are you a pc fan club all by yourself ?
That's exacly the kind of stuff that makes everyone hedgy. Really.
Sorry, I don't have a mac because I'm "fan" of it. Nor do I worship every apple store or have everything Apple at home. Damn, I couldn't stand an AppleTV ...
Do you know everything PC ? Is your phone a Windows Phone ? Your navigator IE ?
So stop with this stupid "fan club" thing. I don't pay fee each year to get a small "proud member of apple fan club" ... we are not kiddos anymore

Second : so you checked on Apple.com and choose the latest mac ?! Yeah ... fine ... well ... most people don't have the latest Apple with extra-flatscreen and retina display.
'cause you know, "mac fan club member playing sims" aren't that kind of people.

Third : You aware of what limitations ? Only of the hotline guy who said "get a pc if you wanna play" Oh I see. So it must be in every Apple-employee formation.
Crap. BS.
Apple is just like every company.
Employees too.
Sometimes you get really competent people, sometimes you don't.
I've encounter much of them. Of all kind.
Last time I called the hotline for one of the last iMac with an ATI graphic cards NOT soldered to motherboard : got two guys arguing about an ATI against NVIDIA since they had the exact mac and didn't agree. One prefer NVIDIA, the other ATI.
Wow, look at that, people with thinking minds !!
Must be the 2000$ mac too ...

The freaking hardware isn't the problem with EA !
They say it is because it is easier to get rid of discontent customer
When called EA hotline, they sometimes answer you for a simple CC problem to re-install the whole thing .... or to change computer ...

oops...

When I said it would be quicker to buy a pc, I meant quicker than EA sorting themselves out, I hadn't meant to start a PC vs MAC war...

I know literally nothing about Macs, or Apple as a company, I have a crappy old laptop with Windows Vista (I prefered XP) and yes, I pretty much just use it for playing the Sims, and obviously coming on here and going on facebook as well.

I'm sorry if what I said caused offense, but I actually meant it as a light-hearted joke, and obviously as you can't tell my tone of voice on the internet, it didn't work...

Again, sorry.

Don't worry gemly. For one, I don't think you're the person they're upset with. Second, I'm inclined to believe there's a language barrier at work when reading and interpreting some of the posts about Macs here.

So !
On EA Mac Forum, a player got an official answer.
Here it is :

Quote:
Hi Julie,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have been having with the Sims 3 Seasons. It seems as though you may be one of group of players experiencing a known issue with the most recent Sims 3 update. Games tend to crash within 5 to 90 minutes depending on the amount of available memory. If you are experiencing this issue, you will need to uninstall your Sims 3 base game and revert back to the previous update to play the game normally. You can install the previous update using the Sims 3 cumulative manual update found here:

http://llnet.thesims.cdn.ea.com/sim...ac/To-8258-1.39
.3.018001.tgz

Please do not update again until the game has been patched beyond version 1.42. You can keep up to date on the latest patches and updates using the Sims 3 Mac forums here:

http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/forums/show/205.page

In order to get this issue addressed, I will pass your system information on to the Sims 3 studio. Thank you for your patience while we continue to work to address this issue.

Yup. So. No Seasons for Mac player.
How nice !
And no last patch.
Let's all wait for a super patch ... one day ... maybe ...

( and just because it is gold, "Julie" said this about support, Apple and Sims ->

Quote:
(This is why, guys, if you take your Mac to the Apple Store, the Mac Geniuses will try, like really hard, to help you with the Sims, even though they're Apple, not EA, and there's nothing wrong with your Mac. Because Apple tells them that simply turning a customer support case away is NOT OKAY.)

I actually find Seasons fixes like a million bugs for me, and I don't get lag from anything except playing for a while and my Sims won't stop for weather changes, unless it is hail of course. It could be the newer computer, though. :P

The internet can be very helpful. But it ruins the child-like sense of wonder in all of us when we encounter new things. My first EP was Pets, and my username reflects that sense of wonder I had when I first played The Sims 3. And I keep it all here in my steaming hot mug of Nostalgia.

i had hoped that i wouldn't get a bunch of random lag from weather and a bunch of "OMFG WHITE STUFF" actions in my queue and i'm shocked that i actually didn't have a problem with either. however i can't build a second floor no matter what i've tried and people, apparently, have been having the issue since mid november w/o resolution. thinking of uninstalling it now :-/

I had that too, this is what fixed it:

Save the household&house to the bin(in edit town), evict them, bulldoze the lot twice(until the grid disappears as well), place another grid in its place(same size if you can, but I had to put a 64x64 where my 59x59 used to be) and move your house and family back in(they'll be on the left of your screen) then exit edit town mode. After that I could build normally again, so hopefully it would work for you too ^^
