001. Build the two level side blocks (determine the garage size before that) (reserved at least a grid row from the foundation for wall-deformation)

002. Now activate the cheat box "Ctrl-Shift-C", type in "boolprop constrainfloorelevation false", and then start to build the foundation.

003. Without tiling the floor above the first level, foundation will bend the surrounding down. (With such tiling, the surrounding will raise the foundation instead. Read the foundation tutorial for more infos.)

(upper floor view)

(lower floor view)

004. Build the second level on the foundation

(full-wall view)

005. Now, level the sides with levelling tool.

006. this's what it looks after levelling. Let's colour them according to the level and compartments

007. type in "boolprop constrainfloorelevation true", and then (a) add some tiles on the garage side of the foundation, or (b) delete the wall to set the wall more inner the foundation area to skip the tiling.

008. add modular/connecting stair for sims accessment

009. Now, open the area for the garage...

010. Choosing some wallpapers or whatever with pattern will end up like the right-hand-sided side while those non-patterned. This is what it can be like.

Limitation: I've no EP2 yet, so adding the garage and/or driveway is your job.

Rhonda,

since, I've no EP2 installed, so I could only leave out the gap for it.

Jonesi has made one with EP2, so it may help better for that.

Thank you so very much! This link above was a wonderful help.
Now my sims have really nice - if not elegant - garages right beside their homes.
Wonderful!
I love this mts2-webside. It's the most helpful one I know. (And with the help of my dictionary I'm more and more often quite successful )

Wooooo! This is so great! Thank you so much. I spent the whole afternoon trying the garage trick out. This is really cool. But I noticed one thing that's kinda bugging me: you see, when I connect a garage with a house that has a foundation, technically, the cars in the garage are on the first floor, and all the furniture’s and everything else inside the house (above the foundation) are on the second floor. So usually I’m on the second floor, but then I can’t see the cars, even though there are no tiling in the garage. The only time I can see the cars is when I switch to the very first floor, which is not very pretty because of the foundation. Is there anyway (hacks or cheats) that I can see the cars from the second floor? Thanks.

Jmaster3265,

Oh, I dislike tutorials, too, sometimes, and I feel I'm just so slow to understand right away... but I don't give up so easy either...
But you can use a higher screen resolution so, the windowed sims window can be placed side by side with the brower.

PS:
1. please delete the quote coz it's unnecessary and most people will know what you're refering to.
2. This's just a way to do that, may check out other ways...

When it comes to "ConstrainFloorElevation". my brain suddenly becomes a heap of mush. I have had the worst luck with that cheat. But after a few tries, I actually did manage to make a cute little house with an attached garage using this tutorial! Thank you. Maybe there's hope for me yet!

Default Sideways Garage
I\'ve tried to find a way to build a sideways garage, but none of the tutorials seem to work. I\'ve tried multiple times and i cannot succeed. is there a very simple way to do this?

ftemegan3,

If the cheat is not working, then you may have to check if your game copy is still working well. coz it can mean that game copy is becoming corrupted.

FYI, infos on how the cheat works:

This tutorial is awesome! But I ran into a problem. I spent an hour building a house according to an actual floorplan, and when I tried to save it my game crashed! And I had to have really high celings on the first floor...:P
