Default Database of fixed/low poly hair meshes?
Hello everyone!

There are a few hair meshes I have been looking for, where I would like either a fixed version of the mesh (due to transparency issues etc.), or a version of the mesh with a lowered polycount (as they are too high poly for my game).

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is some kind of database or website with links to these fixed/low poly meshes?

I am currently googling the mesh names that I want to replace, and searching all the hairs made by creators I have found who have fixed some other hair meshes, but this is very slow, as you can probably imagine.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I don't think there is a database for fixed/low poly hair meshes, specifically, but there is a hair database: http://allthehairs.podserver.info/

I personally love and use All the Hairs, and find it useful for projects like yours. For example, when I was cleaning up my Downloads folder, it was a huge help to find hairs I liked but in the colors/textures I prefer.

BUT, fair warning: the site does give a "suspicious site" warning nowadays. I believe this is because the site is old, or at least that's how it was explained to me once. I personally don't have a problem using it and haven't experienced any malware, etc. but I know some simmers have stopped using the site because of the warning, so I wanted to give you a heads up. For me, since you're not downloading from the site directly and you get linked elsewhere, I feel my adblocker and antivirus/firewall program is sufficient, but ymmv.

The site has been hacked or something; look at all the 'spam' or 'casino' listings.

Well, that's why I gave a warning. Again, I don't usually come across the spam, but we could be using the sites in different ways and I just miss it, or it could be my adblocker and antivirus, etc.

In any case, I don't know of any other database, and definitely not one as comprehensive. You could try flagging the spam pages, since there was some comment activity on the site last year.

Unfortunately, with databases like that one, the community has to rely on the original creator/host. If that person becomes disinterested or inactive, and doesn't pass on the host duties to another simmer, there's really not much to be done about it besides starting a whole new database.

I've been deleting the latest spam links (or well, writing them as zzzSpam and deleting the links from the posts since I can't literally delete the posts) last few days and before that somebody else was doing it. Wish the site owner showed up again and deleted all the spam but it's starting to feel pretty hopeless at this point. :/ I made few suggestions on how to hopefully combat the spam but doesn't look like they've responded. (forced registering with admin having to manually verify the accounts would be a good start or adding one of those written captcha's that ask you questions only a human could answer like "what is the name of this site written without spaces")

Anyway All The Hairs is database for retextures, not for fixed meshes. I think if OP is already in it, they can make a new site with database for fixed meshes. Some meshes are made so badly, especially old ones, so many creators who retexture will remake (fix) mesh too and it is in fact replacement of original mesh. And if you will make a site, there will be probably helpers who point you to meshes they know.

Thanks everyone

I actually use All the Hairs for textures already, it's a great website (my Google Chrome blocks it completely, so I use Microsoft Edge and can access it, I'm not sure how safe it is though, although I haven't actually seen any spam myself).

Unfortunately some of the creators that I have found who do make fixed meshes are not on All the Hairs (sometimes because they have only made a mesh edit and no retextures).

I'll keep thinking and googling, thanks though anyway

If anyone else is looking for lower poly/fixed meshes, here are some I've found:
