This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage
Default HELP - No Electronic Arts Folder for Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, Mac edition.
I have bought and installed The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection via the App Store on my Mac Pro, and the game runs completely fine. However, I recently wanted to start using custom content and downloading mods, so I went to do that, and discovered I did not have an Electronic Arts folder in My Documents! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times now, and still I have no folder! Is this a problem that can be fixed, or because I got it via the App Store is this to be expected? Please Help!

Looks like someone asked the same question a while back: http://modthesims.info/t/530610
There's a lot of info in that topic, plus some links.

Here's one that explains how to use CC: https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/...c-version-only-

There isn't a "my documents" folder on a Mac (that's the path for a PC), but it looks like the correct path for a MAc is something like: ~/library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/
(Just don't ask me how to find the "lilbrary" folder - I haven't used a Mac since 2008, and my experience was as short-lived as frustrating...)

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.
I'm here on tumblr and my site, tflc

The Sims 2 Super Collection does not use the Electronic Arts folder.

Editing Note: It is the Super Collection for Macs, not the Ultimate Collection which is the PC only one.

Instead you need to go to the Go menu in the Finder and then "Go To Folder" and type or copy and paste without the quotes "~/library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/".

Then you create a folder named "Downloads" inside The Sims 2 Folder. Don't use the Quotes.

Then you can place downloaded content in your Downloads folder for the game to use, first keep in mind that you will need to uncompress it so that it is a .package file.
Not a .zip file or .7z or .rar and not .Sims2Pack.

I strongly Advise that you sort your CC into subfolders like put the clothes into Downloads/clothes, vehicles into Downloads/Vehicles and Hair into Downloads/Hair.
Me I also organize by creator, like Mods from MATY into Downloads/Mods/_MATY Mods from BoilingOil into Downloads/Mods/BO etc.

After you have downloaded some CC that you like and it is in the form of a .package file in your Downloads folder you need to run the game and do the following:

1. In the Game Settings check the Enable custom content box
2. Go into a lot (any lot) and save immediately
4. Quit
5. Run the game again.

I also Strongly Advise that you drag the folder The Sims 2 to your Dock so that it makes a link to the folder in your Dock, the when you want to access the folder you can just click on the copy in the Dock and you will then be in the The Sims 2 folder.

hello, I read everything that was written above, I did it exactly according to the instructions, put the ".package" files in the correct "downloads" folder, I enabled permission to use additional objects in the game, but they never appeared in the game itself ... But in Bodyshop they are there and they can be used, but in the game itself they are not, please tell me what i need to do to see them. this is very important to me, thanks!

Open the game and load any neighborhood. Go to Options (the "..." button at bottom left of the screen). Click game options (gear cog). In the upper right of the window, there should be a "display custom content dialog at startup" in a frame. Click off. Then click the asterisk * in that same frame. In a big window, at the bottom, click enable custom content. Click ok, and exit the game. Then run the game again.

Is the Catalogs Display Custom Content option set to on? It should be somewhere next to Display CC dialog at startup option.

Do the items show if they're not in a subfolder?

Are you sure you're putting the files in the folder called Downloads (big D, small s at the end, file path shown in lordtyger9's post)?

Do the items show if you put them in the SavedSims folder (only works for sims and CAS recolors, but not anything that requires custom meshes)? If you don't have this folder, try making a project with Bodyshop and see if this generates the folders you need. For PC, Bodyshop makes both a SavedSims and a Downloads folder, but I'm not sure if it does so for the Mac game.

Can you take a picture of where your CC is?

Yeah if you find The Sims 2 Folder that is Inside the Aspyr Folder you have found the correct folder, Then you must make sure to create a folder named exactly: Downloads and it has to be named just as it in my example and it has to be located inside The Sims 2 Folder. Case Matters in this instance, so make sure to name it just like I am showing you.

To make sure that you have done this step correctly please go to your The Sims 2 Folder and set it so the contents of the folder are showing and then hold the Command Key and Shift Key Down and press 3, when you do that your Mac will take a screen shot next upload it here so we can see what you are doing.

I'm sure I did everything right
I found the only folder ~/library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/".

in it I created the "Downloads" folder
and Display Custom Content option set to on

SavedSims i also cant see in game ((

Bodyshop can show CC even if it's turned off ingame, and there are other differences too, so don't trust "but it works/shows fine in Bodyshop, so it *should* work fine ingame" or vice versa.

This person had the same issue - maybe the solution (different file path for the Downloads folder) helps you too?

For anyone else having this problem, my solution is to ignore what the PackageInstaller does. The Downloads foler should be placer here:

~/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2

AND NOT

~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/

I found help to solve this problem, it turns out that the folder I needed was at a different address library/application support/aspyr/the sims 2, there I created the "downloads" folder and was able to add everything

Watch this YouTube video for installing custom content and having it work on Macs. Wonderful video. Super clear and it works!

I am now using an iMac 24 inch with an M1 chip
and playing The Sims 3 and The Sims 2 Super Collection. Just started playing again.

Could be useful to know that clicking that extra star helps if someone has issues (I think that should be the same as enabling via the screen with all the CC showing as long as it pops up at startup, but if CC isn't showing it could still be an idea to check whether everything is ticked). Once the CC has been properly enabled, you can untick the "display CC at startup" - this screen can cause the game to spend more time on loading and there's always that small chance you'll accidentally disable CC.

(11:15 in the video - If anyone wonders why the #2 category (faces) in CAS is empty most of the time after you install CC, it's because it shows heads based on which skins are used. If the sim is currently wearing a CC skin that doesn't have any template sims using it, then there aren't any sim heads to show).
Me? Sarcastic? Never.
