LOL, Aurora Skies sounds like a great name for a porn star. Maybe it will be a porn theme world.

Ugh, enough with this damn gold and standard editions crap! Otherwise, it does look interesting. However, a lot of those houses don't seem to match the downtown area. They just don't look too downtownesque.

I kinda understand what you mean with gross lokking terrainpaint. Overall it looks nice but the ''beach'' is, well, black. Dafuq?

EA probably drilled a few holes in the ocean.

Sunlit Tides was the last store world I will ever buy. If EA even wants me to consider buying another of their craptastic worlds they need to go back and make fixed versions of their previous mistakes available to download.
In other words, EA can shove this up their ass.
TS2 and TS3: Where adult sims potty train their toddlers.
TS4: Where adult sims make Angry Poops.
Which game is made for the juvenile minded?

Not to get hung up on the little things, but "...traipse under majestic, towering waterfalls that come to rest on the banks of a large, steaming geothermal lake sky." wut? Is that like white-water canoeing?

Another one already! Geez EA, slow down a little bit. Monte Vista just came out last month.
There's also a blog with a couple more pictures: http://www.thesims3.com/myBlog.html...th=01&year=2013
Apart from the awesome looking sky, this world looks pretty bad. Not Barnacle Bay bad, but still pretty bad. The colourful buildings against the darker terrain looks awkward and the town looks thrown together. Moonlight Falls or some custom worlds seem like better options. Unless there's better looking parts not shown in the pictures and the premium content is really stellar, I think I'll actually pass on this world.

Maybe it's a hint at the new premium content? Canoeing of any kind would be fun.

A couple of the screenshots really impress me with the natural setting. I like the geothermal springs and the northern lights effects. Would be great if our Sims could take a dip in the hot springs or go on a midnight picnic under the brilliant night sky.
I give a huge thumbs down to the downtown area, which looks like a bunch of buildings made out of Legos. UGH!!!
Overall, this one is a miss for me until it goes on a deep discount sale. (I'm looking at you, Cyber Monday!)

As to the buildings, I think they are trying for Denmark. (Geothermally speaking, of course)

I must be looking at something other than what everyone else is looking at -- this looks terrible to me. My first thought was actually "ew" and my cousin asked me if I got bad news because I probably looked like I'd just eaten something rancid. Sorry but this world looks seriously ugly to me.

Wow. I'm glad I read through the thread before just jumping in after clicking on the link in the OP. At least I know it's not just me.
If these are the most enticing photos EA can come up with, this doesn't even look good enough to release on the Exchange for free. The buildings are Lego like (actually, my first thought was more Chiclets). The use of color on the structures sucks. It looks like someone laid down a flat world, drew some roads out, and built up some mountains for the background. Even if it comes with kayaking, that one trick will not be enough to get me to spend good money on it (sorry, Simpoints).

I'm assuming this is still under development... I hope. If that's the finished product, I'm not too impressed so far. Maybe the pictures aren't doing it justice, maybe it looks better than that.

This will probably be one of those worlds where the premium content will really help sell it to the point of buyers only interested in the premium item(s), being that premium content isn't usually sold separately right away. Otherwise, judging by the comments on here and on other sites, this isn't looking to be a hot seller. It is unique, though; I'll give it that.

This is seriously unappealing to me. But if the premium content is good enough, it can still be used in another world. This might be a wait for a sale purchase.
Edit: Okay, the thermal springs shot is pretty. I might be able to work with this, but I'd have to replace all the houses.

This looks absolutely horrid. Between the black beaches and ugly Ikea houses, the only thing worth salvaging from that world is the aurora borealis sky.
I'm guessing the dark terrain is meant to be resemble something like this. But, wow, what a fail.

I seem to be in the minority all over the place here...I really really like what little we've seen so far. Monte Vista, Sunlit Tides, Lucky Palms all were waaay too bright for me to play for more than 10 minutes at a time; Hidden Springs is lovely but unplayable without major tweaking and the shade of green bugs me (admitted color whore here, shades are important LOL); Moonlight Falls just fell short in general. I like the different looking terrain here and the blocky houses my not bother me too much because, again, they're different. I don't tend to look at the buildings in a world, anyway, since I've gotten used to redoing all of that myself because I am just so damned picky. I'll have to see more pictures but so far, I might not wait until it's dirt cheap to get it

Well, I just read the official thread at the official forum and noticed plenty of mixed reviews, to my surprise. Still, more members there like it than members here. But it's actually refreshing to finally witness posts from members there about not actually liking the world or finding it unpleasing. After all, their opinions seem to matter more than the ones from other Sims 3 communities.

I hope they post some better pictures, because this isn't working for me as well.

God damnit, I've told EA to stop selling things that come out of my toilet. This is certainly one of them, sorry guys.

When I heard the name Aurora Skies, my first thought was Alaskan fishing village! Then I saw the pictures, and thought : Alaskan fishing village.
From time to time, Ihave thought of doing Dutch Harbor, or perhaps Ketchican. I think this will be pretty close.

I hardly ever use EA houses, the last time I was impressed was with Lucky Palms. I have a few Eco Friendly houses in my library to use for this. Right now looking at the picture, I am not impressed. The terrain looks terrible. I have to see what the premium is, and will that item be available through the ingame store before buying the world. I am starting to get disillusioned with the store so I will find other ways to get the items I want. Maybe someone will upload the sims I want too. Is tired.
What I really want is my ribbed, green roof back. Bring it EA!

Black, brown, and dark green textures... very fitting.
