I wonder if the olives will grow on trees like bananas, or on bushes, like bell peppers. That's a big decision the development team is going to have to get just right....

Oh, and I figure the three types of food from the wood burning oven will be pizza with cheese, pepperoni, or mushrooms. That way they only need to come up with an extra pepperoni plant.

I think the deep fryer and ice cream maker prove that the PC items don't necessarily need items grown in the Sims world... no bacon plants sighted yet.

On that note, doesn't it disturb you that they never told us where the chickens come from for the fried chicken dish either? The only birds they've officially given us are the parrots/macaws and bluebirds from Pets, and the pigeons, which I believe came with LN. So, is that really fried chicken our sims are scarfing down?

Just for the sake of completeness, here's the link to the presentation http://www.origin.com/de/maxis-live . Monte Vista is mentioned in the last third of it.

Ah, well, see this is where the simlish to any terran language fails us. In simlish the terran words for "chicken" translate to "had feathered wings".

Better lock down those bird cages... nothing is safe.

Maybe the chicken is just a small turkey. And turkeys grow on bushes.

I don't know how helpful this is, but someone over at the Sims 3 forums found a bunch of unused icons for future items after the latest patch:

I sometime see that Chicken and the Egg one when my Sim is "contemplating the Meaning of Meaning". I guess he is wondering which one came first...

Is there no other link to that stupid video, my computer doesn't seem to like it, and just refuse to fully load it... I WANT TO WATCH IIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!! T_T (sorry for caps lock, but I really do want to watch the show... :p). I guess it's just Ustream it doesn't like so much...

Oh, and for the crow icon, isn't it the one you got when visiting cemetery and got the frighted moodlet or something? The tooth, I think I already saw it to when my Sims brush their teeth... I guess... Oh, and I guess that the knight one appeared once when I asked my Sim child to dream about Royalty.

Since I love Tuscany, I'm gonna buy it.
Got too many fond memories of going on vacation to Italy with my family, and for the shots shown at the live event... it reminds me of riding though vineyards during the day and then going to the small town on-top of a hill (inside those lovely city-walls) and eating at a restaurant that is build into the wall surrounding the town~ =ww=

*starts to dream away thinking about Tuscany*

I think this town will be quite small. There's a lot of water in the background of those pics.
Hope I'm wrong, but best not to get hyped over this in case it's true.

Interesting they're releasing it through the store and through Origin as well as a retail version. I wonder what it's going to cost? Given the "This includes new Sims world and new places, as well as dozens of new exclusive objects and clothing. ", part, and that Sunlit Tides was ~$35 US with the spa and massage table, I bet this one is at least that, perhaps even more. Looks like those "microtransactions" are becoming macro in price.

Might be the same, Sunlit Tides contained new places (all new rabbitholes) and dozens of new exclusive objects... off the top of my head, hair, pillar, windows, massage shelf, outdoor shower, clothing, trees, rocks, streetlights, flowery water light...

That is true. I just really hope the routing is a lot better than ST. I mean, I really love the look of ST, but the routing on many of the community lots (not to mention the poorly painted routing areas throughout the world) make it, for me, virtually unplayable. I started remaking lots to solve at least some of the errors, but gave up when I got caught up in SN. TBH, the last (and really only) EA store world I really thought was terrific was LP. I still keep going back to it. I even have it updated for SN. Even the vampire sparkles seem to work in the bright sun of LP.

This new world really does look beautiful, and I like the idea of bringing a historical European town into the game. I'm just afraid the routing will reduce it to a nice locale for photo shoots, rather than a world for playing.

Lucky Palms had More, better, and more useful, stuff in it. You simply can't go wrong with the bistro set... and those build objects... *heaven* I'd love it if MV has a nice window and door set and a few Tuscan themed odds and ends. *sigh* It makes me want to replay Assassins creed.

It does look beautiful, and I know I'll add it to the collection. But, EA needs to fix the travel system soon. These store worlds are not meant to be played as hometowns. And this one is a walled city..? it's probably going to be even more difficult to put in the necessities from the various EP.

Fingers crossed, travel will be fixed with University.

Not everyone lives in the US. I mean, all these Holiday destinations, people live there too... Those are some peoples homes so it's not like we can't just create Sims with a back story stating that that's where they originate from etc. I myself don't really consider most of the worlds released by EA as "hometowns", but I've gotten used to them and just think to myself that the Sims I'm playing in whatever world, it is THEIR home town. Playing an European world for once might actually feel more like an actual hometown to me since I live in Europe. But I totally agree, they should implement a travel system so I can go on Holiday to Sunset Valley and every other American themed world! Wish I could visit the US in real life though.

I didn't mean that people don't live in place such as a Hidden Springs. Of course they do. But the spin EA puts on their store worlds lead me to believe that they are intended to be travel destinations.

Riverview -- middle America, all the back stories on the residents gives the impression they've been there all their life and will probably raise children and die there. Screams homeworld.
Barnacle Bay -- in addition to the kitschy pirate clothing (appeals to tourists), a significant amount of households have backstories saying that they are vacationing in Barnacle Bay
Hidden Springs -- It's a retreat for Pete's sake. The rich celebrities generated by Night Life are supposed to recoup here...
Lunar Lakes -- okay, this one doesn't fit into the non-homeworld category.
Lucky Palms -- the town's story is that it used to be prosperous until the water started drying up. What can save this world? Casino seeking Tourists, perhaps?
Sunlit Tides -- Okay, EA took the gloves off and there isn't even a pretense that this isn't a vacation world... We can use "that guy's" mod to travel there for a vacation.
