Default Things I've Seen/Heard/Read About in The Sims 4: Expansion Packs
I don't see the point in making trillion little threads for expansion packs, so I'll make one for now and then another down the road later when this gets too big. I'll update the upcoming packs with key info here and a series of links below on this page for ease of access to past packs.

Who's ready to spend some money!?

Is there a source on this 'work' expansion? I've seen nothing about this.

How do we know it will be control in the sense you can control them at home, rather than modes like the TS3 career rabbitholes plus a series of opportunity popups?

Was hoping for an EP to flesh out families but this is netherless a step in the right direction. It's about bloody time we got businesses back but i'm still skeptical of its implementation, especially after whatever that train wreck was in the Sims 3 store. It better be like the Sims 2.

We don't, but we have no reason to have a hospital or police station otherwise.

I'm not really a Sims entrepeneur, but I would fully support more options and venues in the public places.

AFAIK the rumors are based on these:
* The (in)famous survey (But keep in mind that half the survey stuff for Sims 3 never made it, even to the store) : http://www.simsglobe.com/2014/10/si...n-packs-survey/. Specially: 1/ Active Careers 2/ Business Owner
* The guru tweet: http://simsvip.com/wp-content/uploa.../12/tweet-1.png which corresponds to the description of the active career of scientist in the survey
* The new pic of Sims Brasil - now well known to leak upcoming imminent announcements. i.e. all their leaks were true, IIRC. Leak shown here: http://simsvip.com/2015/02/03/the-s...olicemen-hints/ The pic shows a sim cop, a hospital patient, donuts and diplomas on the wall.

I would be thrilled with this EP if I weren't so disappointed about it not being a family-oriented type of pack that would add back toddlers. OFB was my second favorite Sims 2 EP (Seasons was my favorite) so I'm happy to see a similar EP for TS4, but I just feel like toddlers should be a higher priority at this point. Unless they're planning on adding toddlers in a GP instead of an EP. Then I'm fine with this being the first EP.

We had a hospital and medical career in TS3, and we could tell our medical sims how to work while inside *in general terms* and they also had some stuff they could do outside the hospital. Same applied to police station. So there is no particular reason to believe we can actually go into those buildings and see sims working in a police station or hospital in TS4

It's looking good. I would rather to see the base game expanded upon its own features, but this is fine too.

I really don't care about going to work but the "open for business" bit interested me a lot. The trailer shows a bakery, an electronic store, a clothing store and a toy store.

I wonder if they are all staged or if they are actually functional! Would love to be able to shop again with proper people working in there! Not here for TS3 mechanics though.

Tbh, the fact that it mixes those two EPs make me believe that it's a bad sign for the OFB mechanics they are going to use...

The trailer released earlier suggests that we can go inside of these buildings and work in them. Unless they completely staged the interiors (which will cause a Massive outrage on release...) then you can go inside of these buildings.

Now, to what extent we can go inside. Is it like you say, you get an opportunity and that is only when you can go inside. Could be, we really don't know much of it yet outside of what the trailer revealed.

There are some Sims being treated with medical equipment, and being patted down/locked up at the police station (we'll not speak of the "gameplay" we saw at the boutique - looked more like talking if anything) - that suggests that there is gameplay to be had at these places. Lots of medical equipement being thrown about and I imagine we'll watch a mother give birth behind a giant blur.

The science career, I don't know what's happening there.

Hey it has 3 disagrees! I did disagree with it only because the video suggests that we can go to work and do stuff there. To what depth though...I mean that's a good point that will only be answered with more information.

I mean maybe it is a rabbit hole that can only be accessed at certain times and once or twice a week a pop-up comes up that says...

"Your sim has a surgery to perform! Would you like to go perform this surgery?"
"Your sim has an interrogation to perform! Would you like to go?"

etc etc

Or maybe they are fully functioning buildings with loads of gameplay opportunities.

Well mentioning a disagree is a sure recipe for attracting others, but if someone has seen screenplay of a sim IN a hospital doing stuff, then I can't argue. I mean we totally had TS2 toddlers spinning round from ceiling fans, like in the screenshots, didn't we?

This is a gameplay trailers. Things are often presented in a way to make the presentation more so than what it is, but when you break down the elements, it's clear that there's gameplay available for Sims who work in hospitals (like a giant surgical machine and a Sim sitting on one of those medical beds - not to mention Sims with various illnesses), etc.

All we need to know how connected it all is and how it's all tied together, but I don't doubt an open hospital in an expansion pack about working.

The hospital should be easy enough. What I'm curious about his how this new legal system is gonna work. Especially jails. That worked fine as a Rabbit hole in TS3 but I can't imagine how it'll be now.

At least we can say there has never been a sims game without a jail. Fortunately this time I won't have to make it!

Hey Simmers!

We’re excited to announce our first expansion pack, The Sims 4 Get to Work! With three brand new active careers, each complete with a new fully playable career venue, there are plenty of ways for you to fulfil your Sims ambitions. But that’s not all. You can even create your Sims’ own retail business, taking advantage of your Sims’ skills and hobbies to earn those Simoleons. There’s a lot to discover in The Sims 4 Get to Work when it releases in April 2015, but in the meantime, here are seven important things you should know:

1. Be a Doctor: Your Sim can now spend their work day saving lives, treating patients, performing emergency surgery, and for the first time ever, delivering babies!

2. Combat Crime: Investigate crime scenes, interrogate Sims, and arrest criminals while you work your way from Cadet all the way up to the Chief of Police.

3. Experiment and Invent: Scientists spend their days building crazy inventions and collecting unique specimens for diabolical creations like the Sim Ray. Your Sim will have to decide whether they’ll use their inventions to help or torment their fellow Sims.

4. Create Unique Retail Businesses: Create any number and type of retail business you want, including bakeries, clothing boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, and much more. You can customize every facet of your business with Build Mode; select what items to sell, manage your employees, and even upsell customers!

5. New Career Venues: All new career venues and neighbourhoods like the Hospital, Police Station, and Science Lab are fully stocked with brand new objects to help your Sims achieve success! Or head down to the Retail District to check in on the many retail businesses you’ve created and find your Sims true calling.

6. Learn New Skills: Check out a whole new set of skills that will allow your Sims to create even more unique objects. Sims can now capture the picture-perfect photo or bake and decorate a delicious treat with the new Photography and Baking skills. Whatever your Sims make can be proudly displayed at home or sold to earn a few extra Simoleons.

7. Discover Aliens: Aliens have landed and walk amongst us! Find out which Sims are truly out of this world and discover the mysterious Alien dimension!

So get your Sim out of bed and get ready to rule the workplace! The Sims 4 Get to Work is coming out this April for both PC & Mac.
