Default Newport, a city version of Bridgeport..
Hello everyone, I am almost done with my CAW project Newport.
The map is done and a lot of the lots have been build.


Newport has been a labor of love and has took me almost 3 years to build.
The world has been based on the map of Bridgeport but has been enlarged and altered to make it more of a real city and to have space to include all ep's and stuff,
There is Cc used by Awesims, Luna and TheJim, Cyclone sue and much more.

To me it now feels like a true city with a lot of apartment buildings, commercial lots, mansions and "hidden rabitholes" (buildings placed "on top"of them so the buildings are all build by me but still function )

However I do need some help.

There are a LOT of Lots, and I would like to have some help using store-content and all to create shops, Restaurants, and things like interiors above the rabbitholes (Cityhal, police station, hospital) the consignment store and so on.

Anyone up for helping me with decorating a lot (inside mostly, exteriors are 95% complete except for some of the mansions in the Hills)
or maybe even take on the park?

also I would LOVE some feedback about the city in general, After 3 years of building and being an utter annoying perfectionist I believe I could use some fresh pair(s) of eyes.

How I see this work:

If you feel up to helping me, you download the world file, install it, take a look around and choose the lot you like to do, post its name or lot address here so no one else takes it on and later post the lot here in this tread or p.m it to me

The palace complex is taken care off.. that will be for my Sim.
and I have included the latest save-file that I am currently playing so you can see what families there should be (I am aiming for all original Bridgeport inhabitants, the Landgraab Family and some sam shingla families cause I would love to have a "Chinatown"-neighborhood

thank you! all scyscrapers have an apartment in them, the two towers are intended to be a club like the prosper lounge (4 star celebs)

Sure, I think that would be a great idea. That way it might also be more visible to others which lots to NOT to try decorate. :D

it is completly empty, I was thinking the top floors to be a 2 celebrity bar with across the bridge a 4-5 star celebrity hangout. the sidebuildings could be (fake) shops. and the plaza would be nice if it was decorated.

This one is a bit of a nightmare. I would love it if these two lots could serve as a functional University but to have it decorated would help a lot to I think.

While I think this is a really wonderful idea, I think you're going to limit the usability of the world by making it require so much custom and store content. If you were to make a list right now of all the content that would be needed for your world so nothing would be replaced what would it look like? What EPs/SPs are required, store content, etc? Then ask yourself if there is a way to evoke the feel of what you want without using all of that (things like the store oven can be added by players who have them, for example). Or rabbitholes - maybe leave space for adding a playable wing but don't fill it up with stuff for the release?

The Rabbitholes require Lunar lakes but if you don't have that world they will simply disapear and leave the space for other rabitholes.

The Custom stuff list is not really that big, I use wall-papers and the corniches by Awesims,
Some windows by Cyclonesue and Mutske from that other site
and bits and pieces by Luna.
All together the CC item-list now (excluding cars and furniture) is 24 pieces.

I use all expansions and Storeitems, but what you said would be a good sugestion!
make the shops without the Storeitems but leave place to put them in if people have it.

Huh, this place kind of reminds me of my own designs of Bridgeport. I haven't had time to actually create anything other than a few landmaps and rough sketches, but what you're doing with the Port Area and the area directly across the bridge (which I'm calling Wellinger Place for now) isn't all that dissimiliar to my ideas.

Hypocrisy is only okay if I do it.
( Join my dumb Discord server if you're into the whole procrastination thing. But like, maybe tomorrow. )

I had no problem run it but most lots had no front doors lead me to uninstall.

no frontdoors? that is weird, Ill look into that! most are apartment buildings so that would make it a bit odd to fix in game I think.
but did it all look ok? remember that this is still a beta, So there should be a lot to fix.

I would like to see your ideas to, This map has been a long time comming, I have tweaked it over the last years into what it is now and to me this layout actually fixed Bridgeport, it has much more of a city-feel.

I just installed the (exterior) of the casino and most of China-town.. Now I need the interiors and Sims to populate it.

Default It Is Not Dead!!!!!
however it has been trough yet another makeover... SIGH!

But all for the better, I have reduced the lot-count from 227 to 152, that makes it run a lot faster AND I have reduced the amount of CC by over half.

With the new lots, I reduced my palace to dust yet again and took it into a different direction, After watching Brides head revisited again I took it into the Direction of Castle Howard, but them more on how it was intended by Hawksmoor. (so the full Baroque version, without the dreadfully ugly Palladian addition )

As with the city itself, I reduced the lot count there a LOT! The lots are still empty mostly but the world is looking much better and the world is better off for it.

of course there are pictures AND a beta-file..

It looks stunning! I love the architecture, especially the castle

You should fix something though, the texture of the dirt roads' sidewalks is messed up (you can see it in the second last picture). And I think adding some custom lighting files will make the world look even better.

Other than that, nice job!

they indeed are messed up, however I am not that good in how to fix them, any help would be appreciated!

I am more of a builder and had really clear lines (after five years of working on this town) of how I wanted it and what I wanted for the town to look like.
I especially wanted NO visible rabitholes.
and I have never added custom lighting files, I would LOVE that to, (I am hoping to create the sunlit tides sky and water instead of what I have now and get rid of the "fog"
But I have not been able to figure out how that works..

If you are willing to help, that would be awesome!

I guess the problem with the roads is because you haven't chosen the right texture for the opacity map or the normal map. Here's a tutorial where you can see how to create custom roads: http://ts3cc.canadian-forum.com/t14...-by-richdre-bmc
Make sure you leave the opacity map blank (Unless you want the sides of the road to fade, then you have to select an opacity texture). For the normal map chose one of these blue textures that end with ".tga", in that case the "dirt_sidewalk_base.tga" one, since it's a dirt road. Then it should be fixed.

About the custom lightning files, you can get Sunlit Tides' files here: https://cawster.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/sunlit-tides/
To import the INI files and the color ramps into your world, you have to use S3PE. Open the .world file of your world in S3PE and then select Resource>Import>From file and select the Sunlit Tides files you downloaded. Save and when you open CAW you will see the difference. Keep in mind that everytime you save your world in CAW the custom lighning files get deleted. You can import them again as many times as you wish, just make sure to import them before you export the world, then they will appear always in the game. Ah ok, that will make it a bit tricky, I have never worked with S3pe.
I might have to leave it as is, unless you have experience and be willing to help?
except for the road- textures (witch I will change tomorrow) the world map itself is done, all I need to do is finish the exterior buildings and add interiors (or find people to help me with it)
but I can do that in the game itself and add a save file later.

if you have some experience with custom lighting, would you be willing to help me?

S3PE is not complicated to use, at least not for importing files into a world. Give it a try, you'll see it
I can help you if you want to create new files, but In 2 days I'm leaving and I will be the whole summer out, so it should be something quick.

Well I have never used it before so for me it is a bit scary. so if you would be willing to help with the S3PE weather-lighting thing it would be apreciated.

I have never done that before and the world is now ready.

I have absolutely no problem helping you, really, but c'mon, give it a try. There's always a first time, I promise it's not difficult nor scary. I could just do it myself, but if you learn how to do it yourself that would be something useful for you

It is driving me CRAZY! I am trying trough.. it has cost me most of my free weekend and all it does is screw things up..
