If you've used the GraphicRulesMaker (especially the old version 1.0, or 2.0 if you haven't ticked the box that says the line in my post above) - maybe you should check if you have the "pink soup" issue.
If the game is set up properly, "regular" pink flashing shouldn't be a major issue - at least not unless you've been running the game for a while. It's basically a sign the game is out of memory and is trying to empty out some of the earlier chunks it loaded, so it can load in whatever else you're now throwing at it. First a few things start going pink, then gradually the entire lot. Maybe the entire neighborhood - but if you haven't already taken the hint that it's probably time to give the game a rest by then (if you're still even able to play), it's probably time to do so. The "regular" pink flashing is usually manageable, and you can to an extent predict the kind of situations it will show up - common triggers are large and/or CC heavy lots, snow/weather, a lot of CC-heavy sims, CC with high-poly meshes and large textures, and sim-heavy lots, especially a mix of several of these. How bothersome the pink-flashing turns out to be is up to the individual computer setup, though. Some never see a hint of it, other people get it a bit too often.
The "Pink soup" issue seems to happen almost at startup of the game, or maybe during the first or second lot played, and means something is definitely going wrong, because if you're lucky you can load one lot and everything looks normal, but going back to the neighborhood or loading a second lot, something is pink. After that, everything is going pink at an alarming rate, and you're often met with pink sims in loading screens, pink neighborhoods, pink lots after loading them, and basically pink gone absolute batsh*t insane, like someone spilled pink soup on your game and left you with the cleaning job. Using only tiny amounts of CC, having great hardware, and all that jazz makes no impression whatsoever on the soup, and nothing seems to make sense. Maybe the game crashes, too.
